Bid bots are not good for Steemit, even if you do make a profit the bot makes much more than you do, because apart from what you pay it for the up vote it also pockets the curation reward.
As for the 14 week thing, yes it sucks, but what I do is not power up the liquid SBD I get from my rewards I just move it to savings where it is safer and if I need it I just withdraw it(with a 3 day notice). Of course you can just keep it in your account but it could be stoen if your security is breached.
