Steemit Learning Discussion: Exploring the Steemit Blockchain

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Having been on Steemit for a while now, I have started to really embrace the platform. So much so that over the past few weeks I've had over 10 friends and family signup for Steemit. This has resulted in me spending a lot of time showing and explaining the platform to them, but it also has allowed me to continue to learn about other aspects of Steem that I did not realize even existed.

So I feel I have benefited from this process and I want to continue to help others understand Steemit and personally I want to continue to learn more about this decentralized playground!

Ask anything, lets learn about Steemit together!

Hello dearest @gank! Indeed steemit is the best platform in the world Dear. I love the fact that you said that;-

over the past few weeks you have had over 10 friends and family signup for Steemit.

Yeah Dear! That is great convincing networking on your part. Weldone for working that steamlessly! Smiles.

Finally Dear! You nailed it with this oozing out of positive vibes from you when you wrote this optimism;-

So I feel I have benefited from this process and I want to continue to help other understand Steemit and personally I want to continue to learn more about this decentralized playground!

Thumbs up Dearie! You my dear friend are a Sweetheart and a very kind hearted person. keep steeming dear. Cheers.

Very kind words, thank you!

How did you quote my text and use bold on some words? I am already learning more!

You are welcome Dear. Thanks. Its very easy.

  • To quote any word/sentence on steemit: just put > infront of the word/sentenced on a new paragraph.

  • To make a word/sentence bold: just put ** at the two ends of the word/sentence.

  • To italicize a word/sentence: just put * at the two ends of the word/sentence.

Wow! Hope that helps dear? Feel free to get back to me if you still find it confusing dear. Cheers.

Thank you very much!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Thanks for inviting me to Steem buddy, it looks really interesting. I'm sure you can save me a ton of time by answering a few quick questions.

  1. Where does the cash come from? The speculative crypto part of it I understand, but we are also earning something that is pegged to the $USD and I'm confused about where that money is coming from. What pegs it to the dollar? I assume the rest of it is just speculators or supporters who want to buy Steem and that creates the price for it on other markets. Is that the only reason that our posts have a monetary value?

  2. Why isn't everyone automatically sharing everything they do here on Steem? Is there a reward for posts that are exclusive or any reason to make something exclusive?

  3. If I were to describe Steemit as "Reddit, but with a cryptocurrency attached to it where the 'coins' are generated by users creating content and discussing it rather than computers solving math problems." how far off would I be and what would I be missing?

Here is a link that describes about the payouts for posts in great detail. https://steemit.com/tutorial/@ilyastarar/understanding-steemit-know-how-steemit-reward-system-works-and-how-rewards-are-distributed

As far as where does the money come from, just like Bitcoin, new coins are being created every day. I believe Steem is at 9.5% inflation and goes down 1/2% every year until it reaches 1% inflation. These coins, along with ones received by Steemit from advertising within Steemit are used to create the reward pool.

I think eventually everyone will be here, some lose interest because they think it is a get rich quick scheme and it isnt. If you are a content creator though, it only makes sense to me to create it where you can make $ off it and then share it on your normal platforms.

I describe steemit as reddit, instagram, facebook and twitter rolled into one, and since no one owns the site, the value is retained by the content creators instead of the middlemen hosting the site.

The more Steem you power up, the more your upvotes are worth(and you can vote for yourself), this makes sense, as the more money you invest in the platform, the better steward of the ship you should be.

Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful platform. I have been bringing as many people to this platform as I can.

Hey gank-a-rang! I know you've been around crypto for a while, so you know the importance of 2FA. Can you believe that steemit doesn't support 2FA considering how much money is in people's accounts? I'm trying to draw attention to my feature request post, so an upvote and/or resteem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am not so sure 2FA works for Steemit. 2FA is too centralized.

Powered up they are safer, as accounts created through the steemit main website, can be recovered. Liquid funds could be taken, but those could be stored on an exchange with 2FA if that is what you desired.
