Rothko's Song: Art History + Music

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Hi. My name is Gabriela Esquivel. Thanks for visiting my new Dtube channel. The video your watching is the first of many videos to come about Art History + Music.

In this first video I was inspired in the fine artist Mark Rothko to compose my song "Rothko". His artistic life is meaningful and profound for me. He's not about the now...he's about forever...always questioning the establishment...

He really respected painting as an art form separated from decoration. In his own words: "One does not paint for designing students or historians but for human beings...and the reaction in human terms is the only thing that is really satisfactory to the artist...the people who weeped before my paintings are having the same religious experience that I have while I painted them" Simon Shama explains us that what he fear the most was to be told how beautiful his paintings were...because that would have meant that they might be treated as no more than interior decoration.

Thanks for enjoying the video. If you would like to see more art like this I invite you to subscribe to my channel and visit my website www.gabrielaesquivel.com.
