Dear whales, if you want to save Steemit, you have to act now. [1 minute read]

in #steemit8 years ago

I joined Steemit 3 weeks ago.
I got a 50 SD payout for my "introduceyourself", then I got an other 50 SD payout for my second post.

People are introducing themeselves just getting 0.01 SD, while someone is getting 1000 SD or more.

I made some good post that got 0.2 SD, while a decent one got 2000SD.

If you are a whale, you can act to change this situation, and have to do it now:

you have to do a very simple thing: VOTE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN !!!

Now, you can stop reading this post, and start upvoting all the good content on Steemit.

Or either you can go on reading and understand why.

If whales vote just a couple posts a day, "catching a whale" becomes the most important goal for a steemer.

Meanwhile, many people will leave Steemit because they don't get any interest at all with their posts.

This makes no sense.

A decent post should get some dollar, a very good one some hundred.

I would like to be voted by every whale on this site, but *Seriously, if you are a whale and you want to upvote this post, before you do, go in the "introduceyourself" section, and vote at least 20 posts that have a nice picture and the votes of some dolphin. You don't even need to read everyone of them. They are bringing value to Steemit, without any reward.

The value of "Steem" as a currency is given by how many people has some Steem in their pocket.
The value of "Steemit" as a social is given by how many people use it.

Continuing to reward with hundreds of dollars just a couple of people would cause people to lose interest in Steemit, and we can't allow this to happen.

How much should a whale vote be worth ?

I believe a right amount should be around 10$. If at least 30% of whales start using this strategy, I am pretty sure that Steem is going to start again to rise in the next weeks.

A sincere thank to @complexring that is already upvoting a lot, being around 40% voting power.

Agree, many people fed up with this site after they post the long "introduce yourself" post with tons of photos and description and all they got was zero

While I understand your point, I feel it's more of an anomaly to have the introduce yourself posts hit 1000's of dollars.

With regard to the whales voting as much as they can, votes diminish in weight if you give to many a day (optimum would be between 20-50) so even if a whale where to vote or a thousand posts a day, it would make little difference, since his votes would become worthless.

At the same time the goal is not to reward everything, but to reward good content. That actually requires reading the post, since most whales have day jobs, and a life besides steemit, I'm sure they are doing all they can to find and eward good content, but reading an article takes some time. Reading enough good articles to bestow 20 votes can take quite some time.
That being said, I fully understand your frustration with good posts not gaining any traction. I myself have posted good content (according to me) which made 0,00$. Thissite is still in beta, and I assume there will be updates in the near future which will make it easier for people to find your content, if that is what they are looking for.

Catching a whale is the most important goal of a Steemer? Sorry but this is wrong. Creating better content to the community is the most important goal here

I agree! It's not all about the money. Steemit connect social media with crypto currency's and that is awesome! Before steemit I got no interest in that and now I'm reading and learning everyday more about crypto.

Already creating good content. Not getting the response, not getting seen. It is very difficult to get a foothold.

There is no guarantee you'll make money here for any reason unless you vote the article with your own steem power.

The question is not about something being guaranted or not.

The question is:
Steemit is a new social and a new currency, is it going to be interesting for the average person ?

If the answer is Yes, than Steemit will be a great success.
If the answer is No, than Steemit is just going to be a big flop.

The answer could also be neither, it interests a fairly large niche, but a niche nonetheless that has influence. A lot of people will find this site useful and interesting. But most just want to post baby pics (or other major life events), get angry with politics or try to get laid. And most people like facebook's upvoting system where you like almost everything and you don't ponder over your upvotes, it's more social there way.

The chances are better that Steemit ends up being something different than what the designers imagined. They started the rock rolling, and try to direct it, but ultimately it's not in their hands anymore.

Well said. One can only support you

count yourself lucky, I haven't made near that on any of pieces. The best tip I had was under 20. and it was for a comment, lol I'm lucky to get .1 or .02 on any of my pieces not matter how thoughtful or well written they are, from advertising ideas etc... Maybe I've pissed off all the whales over my time in cryptoland these last few years, who knows... I don't think my stuff has been that bad. Heck even if I don't agree with a post but it's well written, makes it's point and seems like legit original content I'll give it an upvote. not that it adds any amount of $ :(

The site needs 100x the people on it, and that isn't going to happen if it turns into a circle jerk of friends vote on each other and the odd hot girl while the rest of us can barely get someone to a few dollars worth with 30+ votes.

this can be a long downward spiral or it could be a STEEM powered rocket ship that grows faster than any other crypto or platform has before.

I agree it's up to the "whales" and with Synereo coming out soon the clock is ticking

I completely agree. At the moment, the chances of making a good rewarded post are just pure luck. Of course if you write once sentence or you cant express yourseldf you won't make it. But there are loads of good posts that dont get even 0.1 $

In the long term these people , in which I include myself, won't find the motivation and won't be writing and investing many hours researching or simply writing their thoughts or ideas. But, somehow, I actually want to think that the system will reward me because the more posts I write the better and more valuable they become.

Upvoted my friend

Some such species also have a significant extinction risk :) Vote as much as u can!

YEs Vote for Pedro!!!!!
