I think he means you are not taking into account the additional increase to your own sp that comes from your work over the month.

With the original sp - you would receive a low amount of curation reward. Now with the higher power level, your new curation reward for the same post would be higher. So over the month, you are increasing your real sp faster than you would have without the delegation.
