My logic was that if someone sees a low upvote post, they may assume they would be the last or close to last person to upvote it. If you are towards the end or even middle of the set of curators that have upvoted, you don't get much at all. Curators get at most 25% of the total post earnings...and majority of that goes to early upvoters.
