Steemit making Reddit CEO nervous! Reddit CEO visits Coinbase

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Jeff C was twittering earlier this day that the CEO of Reddit visited the office of Coinbase today.

There is always the same pattern. Old platforms or institutes miss to keep up with the times and after something new and disrupting appears they need to deal with it. New things always challenge the established things.

The problem for steemit could be that most people are lazy. They don't want to creat another account with another password on another platform. So I think if Reddit will add Bitcoin or something else (i.e. Redcoin) most users will stay with Reddit because they always did.

But we will see ;) Time will tell!

What do you think? Is Steemit about to go for reddits' users?

Reddit had the chance a year ago but decided against a cryptofinancial social architecture letting developer Ryan X Charles go. He cited at the time that new management was 'uninterested in bitcoin' - looks like the success of Steemit may have changed their minds...

you are right, cryptospooner! Now they need to jump on the train or they loose users.

Reddit user and bitcoin fan here. While I still support reddit, the steemit platform is killer. Having tons of fun on here!

I don't think people realize how hard it will be for existing companies to redesign their business systems and models. The external simplicity of Steemit belies the incredibly complex and unique Graphene blockchain software and ingenious economic design. It may be extremely difficult for any existing platforms to replicate, no matter how much money they have. Don't forget time and perception is a factor. Time they simply do not have. Censorship has already tarnished certain platforms..... However it pans out. If there is a pressure on systems to compete to be more open, with more integrity and able to benefit more people around the world, then good for Steemit and Steemers!

that's correct, benjojo! it is hard work to implement something into a running script. As cryptospooner said: Reddit had the chance to jump on the micropayment train last year but didn't WANT to. Now they NEED to.

Same story can be seen with banks and bitcoin. Will be really intersting to see what time will bring.

He should be...if he thinks Bitcoin will get to the moon before Steemit. He should rethink his strategy.

What do I think? I think you should send me some Steem tokens for hijacking my post.

I think that's the same problem like on reddit. So much new posts and the upvotes are often a lottery.

Couldn't agree more!. Just look at all the skeptics when bitcoin was still a baby. Now everyone is jumping on the block chain bandwagon.

I think All those who got band from Reddit will be the first Steemers! And those are the ones who will be advertising Steemit like crazy. I personally never used Reddit but I see no use for it anymore since Steemit has changed the game for sharing information!
