Steeming in La-La-Land - Lets get real folks

in #steemit8 years ago

Is it just me? I joined steemit onlya few short weeks ago. Thinking "how cool is this!" I mean honestly, there is such potential here.

Social media on the blockchain just makes sense, especially with all the censorship going on these days and YouTube changing their algorithms relating to ads which is killing the average content creator. And don't even get me started on YouTube TV!

Steemit has so much potential, but honestly, the layout SUCKS! It is no very user friendly and the average person will not catch on. There is too much reading. Hey! I enjoy reading and learning and thinking for myself, as I imagine a lot of people on here do, but with as busy as I typically am (as is pretty much everyone in this age of hyper-connectivity), I don't have time to see if something is worth my time or not. I have no way of really knowing what content is worth while and what is garbage.

Yeah, Yeah, I suppose looking at the up-votes helps some, but I feel like what would really help is a little format change.

Take for example the searches. I'm not a fan of the search engine on here at all, it seems so disconnected from Steemit, it doesn't seem organic at all.

And what about videos? Why can't I upload and post videos? Why do I have to post to YouTube before I can share it here.

I've put some money into Steemit, and so far have come out on the losing end.

I really have high hopes for this site, but if it doesn't improve it will be just like myspace. I'd hate to see something with so much potential crash and burn because the platform just went for "just good enough". Heck, I'd take just good enough over this current state.

Am I the only one that thinks this?

Please let me know what you think, and if I'm all by myself on this or not.

What would you like to see from Steemit? What do you like about Steemit? What could be done better?

If this is going to be something everyone uses, its going to take a lot of effort and positive feedback (and by positive, I don't mean saying everything is awesome, but actually talking in reality. The Proverbs say "Wounds from a friend can be trusted while an enemy multiplies kisses") Its time to be brutally honest and stop living in La-La-Land!!

Usability is key. It is still in Beta and many improvements have already been made. More should be coming before it is released in the final version 1.0. Patience. Keep giving inputs, feedback, and most importantly: ideas!
