Upvoted this because I find the topic interesting that bring to question ourselves on the incentive of being here. I am like you in the first days oh ave been blown away by the concept where you could be rewarded just by posting good quality art, or even curating it. I arrived at the same conclusion than you recently but I never thought it was a waste of time yet. The reason is simple, I have never written any blog posts really, before steemit. But since I do it, I like it more and more, and the motivation of being rewarded became secondary. I mainly now do it for my own memory or for my friends and family to remember me one day. That s also why I put the exact location of my picture on almost each one of the posts. So one day, I will remember.

Thanks for your reply.
I just saw a "Chicken Pie" post under the STEEMIT category.
I think this is what is getting me under. Categorisation sucks because people want their posts to be listed in high volume categories, even, making the content, again, irrelevant.
But thanks for your reply.
I think it's part of the etiquette to respect on how one tag their posts, and maybe a solution less strong than flagging should be adopted to warn user when they abuse it. A. It like the bot that warns people when they use more than three times the "introduceyourself" one. Of course that would need moderators to witness activity in each category but I think it's doable as long as they get a small reward for their work.
My question is, how a post like this one get this type of reward :
