AH, I love a bit of snobbery when it comes to the matter of books over movies/tv! I watched the first season of GOT way back when, and loved it so much that I bought the first two books because I immediately wanted to know what happens next. But then I kind of watched the series and read the books at the same time so it all got a little too jumbled and I stopped reading the books. I'm thinking of waiting that the whole series airs and then I'm gonna start over with the books. From what I heard, the ending is different in the books, and I think it's a great idea. And it definitely does not make you strange that you hate when pictures of the movies is used in the cover of the books, I hate that too! It fucks up your own imagination about the characters.

Ah, my story's the reverse - my ex bought me the first couple of books as a surprise Christmas present one year, before the TV series began. So I've been avoiding images of the series while trying to pre-order the books as they come out! I will watch the series, my daughter tells me it's excellent, but not until I've finished the books... And George hasn't even finished book 6 yet! I think there are already differences between the TV and the books, not just the ending, but I won't say any more ;)
Yes of course there are differences! I hope George doesn't die before finishing all the books ;D
If he does, I guess I'll just have to watch the TV... I saw an interview where he got really annoyed at people for suggesting he might, but the longer it goes... No, be positive, he's not going to die until he's finished his masterpiece! crosses fingers, toes and other extremities
