Think about that for a minute.
Now consider that most, if not all, of them have been on Steemit
Since the Beginning!

No one is bold enough

and become a whale.

The closest is
she's not a whale @$121,284 she barely has 1/5th as much as the smallest whale has.

by BUYING 100,000 Steam Power. She was never a minnow or a dolphin.

There ARE no home grown Whales...they all bought in with outside money.
That means that they do NOT think like we do.
Their goals are NOT the same goals that ours are.
Consequently
Be careful around whales.

Involve thouself NOT
in the affair of Whales.
I can't compete with big money players. Nevertheless, I steem on. My goals are simple... a couple of bucks a day and a bit of fun.

Thank you so much for this @everittdmickey. I thought that original users were given bonus bundles of Steem power as a gift or something. Now I know the people with money are the ones that had money to begin with. Is their hope for us then? If they didn't make it by posting great original content themselves then why does the current steemit model let them decide what posts are most valuable?
I suspect that all of the dolphins are self made.
I dunno about you but I consider $30,000 to be good money.
Anyone can make that by blogging on Steemit.

This is a good question indeed.
It's their buy in money being paid out to authors. They also have the most incentive to reward content that's good for the platform in the long term.

there is (or was, I haven't heard about him in some time) who took great pleasure in being EVIL (his own words) he loved to flag anyone he thought deserved it into oblivion.
Most are no more dangerous than a semi-truck on the highway is dangerous to bicycles or pedestrians. I drove a semi-truck for 25 years and I didn't run over hardly anybody.
All I'm saying is that their goals and ambitions are not necessarily the same as those of us who haven't got that kind of money.
Many are investors..... they take the long view.
