I've heard that the average lifetime value of an individual user to Facebook is about $500 $200. If that's the case, then the earnings per user using Steemit like a regular social network would be very modest. But nonetheless I think it's a good incentive for the principle that you should be earning for the content you produce, not putting in the pockets of Facebook's shareholders.

That's interesting..where did you hear that? I'd be interested in how the author calculated the lifetime value for an individual Facebook user.
