Director Kevin Smith surprised anime fans at the comic convention, Power-Com, which took place this weekend in California: he announced that he will launch, alongside Netflix, a new series of the mythical hero He-Man.
The saga, entitled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, has the peculiarity that it will not be a remake of the popular '80s cartoon created by Mattel, but will resume the history of that animation and follow the plot exactly where the fiction stayed.I am eternally grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for trusting me not only with Grayskull's secrets, but also with his entire universe, "said Smith, executive director of the series.
The story revolves around the conflict between He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, and the evil sorcerer Skeletor on the planet Eternia. Chapter after chapter will appear a large number of secondary characters in a world that will mix the medieval, sorcery and science fiction technology. Little is known about the sequel, but the director has already announced that the final battle between Skeletor and He-Man will be seen.
The series will be produced by Mattel Television with Rob David, author of He-Man: the Eternity War and vice president of Mattel TV. The writers of this new script include Eric Carrasco, author of Supergirl; Tim Sheridan, author of Reign of the Supermen; Diya Mishra, author of Magic the Gathering and Marc Bernardin, author of Alphas. Powerhouse Animation will supervise the animation of the series.
