What’s Your Most Consistent Hobby For The Last 5 Years?
Today's topic is not directly related to Steemit, but it's a bit more personal. I thought it would be nice to focus on something different for a change.
So, my most consistent hobby for the last 5 years is... running.
I picked up running in 2011, actually, and I was very lousy at it. During the first year I was running like a week per month and the rest I was spending recovering from some injury: joints, muscles or whatever. It was only in 2012 that I was able to run a marathon and from that moment on, everything changed.
In 2013 I ran another marathon, in 2014 I ran my first ultra-marathon, a 60km race.
Then in 2015 I ran my first 100km race (it was actually a training for the next big one) and then the longest race I did so far, 222km (Ultrabalaton, a lap around the Balaton lake in Hungary). In 2016 I ran my first 24 hours and 48 hours races (for a few montshI had the best result for 48 hours in my country). In 2017 I continued with another 48 hours race and I also signed up for one this year, it will be in September.
I started to run initially to lose weight and I continued to run because it felt good for the mind. That's why I picked up so much on ultra-running and I kinda avoid speed races (marathon counts as a speed race for me).
I train regularly even if I don't have a competition coming up. It became part of my daily / weekly routine.
Also, my running style and goals changed very much: I'm running a lot slower and, apart from some injuries at competitions, I wasn't injured for the last 2 years at all. The goal is not to get a good result at the next competition as it is to keep this habit in my life for as long as possible.
So, that was my most consistent hobby for the last 5 years. Looking forward for yours. Don't forget to add a link to your post in the comments so I can check it out.

Keep fighting for positive change. We need more citizens around the world to actively participate in politics. I try to keep from watching the news because it's depressing, but I do want to get more involved in taking action. Great job!
Thanks for sweet words sir I will remember your feelings always @michaelluchies
I'm assuming eating doesn't count.
Jokes aside, this is such an important topic. So many people have such great dreams for self-improvement, but when it comes down to making progress it's consistency that always counts and it's consistency that's hardest to stick to.
For the last 5 years, my most consistent hobby would be reading... all my other hobbies wax and wane with my levels of stress, but reading is something I always find time for.
Reading is a great hobby to have. I have a hard time forcing myself to sit down and block out all of the other distractions in order to read a book. Eating would be one of my hobbies as well :-)
I find there are two times that work really well. Right before I go to bed I usually need to de-stress/ forget all the work I put off doing till tomorrow, and I'll read a light book then (I find Terry Pratchest's work really good). The other is on public transport, though it depends if i get a seat :/
Daily 1 hour swim in the pool
My hobby is #bookreading
What is your favorite book or favorite genre of books? I like self-help myself.
My consistent hobby has been reading books and great stuff and its how i got to know about Steemit.
What's your favorite book and fav genre?
My hobby is kind of funny https://steemit.com/life/@empress-eremmy/my-most-consistent-hobby-over-the-last-5-years
mmmm, tasty hobby!
I'd prefer commenting instead of a whole post: worldbuilding.
It's a lifetime passion for me.
I have never really tried marathan race. I know it requires a lot of Persistence and endurance. Although I have tried 100meters, and my best time is 11:00seconds. I think that's a good speed for a soccer player. Your running is incredible. I think it's funny that you view marathons as too short, when for most people they aren't attainable. Good for you to be so disciplined and in shape that you can run so long at one time. That's impressive.

Here is day 8. This turned out to be a question which took me down a deep dark tunnel (which I didn't write about). Just interesting how a simple question like that can trigger something...
Day 8 - Most Consistent Hobby in the Past 5 Years.
WooHoo! Thanks so much for the resteem and the upvote today! What a nice boost to see this morning! I'm enjoying doing these posts and they make my think.
That's a lot of running. It makes me tired just thinking about it. So instead, I'll just say, here's my entry for the eighth day of your writing challenge .
Jerking people's minds! :)) they said I'm good at it...
Great read. We have the same running philosophy.
" 24 hours and 48 hours races" DAAAM! And I was getting proud of being able to run for 30 minutes without falling over. I've still got a LOOOONG way to go.

My hoby is running and training. Before we got kids both meand my wife played boardgames. But currently that hobby is on ice.

I need to take a break. It was really fun participating for the past few days but I'm running on empty and needed at least 36 hours to not spend much time in front of a screen.
I'll try to catch back up in a few hours or a few days. Cheers :-)

I've been following you and I hope I will find you to be another good Witness for Steemit's future.
I've always wanted to want to run. I once lost 30 pounds, and I trained for four months. I had never even run in a 5k before, but I was determinned to run in a race. The race I chose -- a 10k trail run. I didn't know what I was doing. Halfway through I tore my ankle but the adrenaline carried me through the whole race without stopping. I then spent the next 6 months limping and still haven't gotten back into the shape I was in then (but I'm trying).
Anyways, running is not my hobby, but I admire those who run and love running. Here is my entry for day 8: https://steemit.com/challenge30days/@michaelluchies/my-most-consistent-hobby-for-the-last-5-years-30-days-writing-challenge-day-8

I never understood about my hobby, when I read what you wrote there was one thing that made me understand for it, so I decided that my hobby for the last five years was to organize. yes! I was involved in building a youth organization in my area, but I do not know if this is really a hobby for me.
Eating
This is an interesting topic. It would be a pleasure to join in the challenge today. Expect an entry from me in a few hours.

It been football all the way, I don't play but I do the tactical aspect of it, would love to be a manager in the biggest football club.
If you had asked 5-8 years ago I would have said: tap dance and sewing. Now it's harder to answer the question.
