I have been here a little over a year, and I agree that there seem to be more than a few "Fairweather Friends" here.

The problem-- perhaps-- is that some of the early marketing of Steemit presented the community as "easy money" and those who came here in hopes of that found a different reality.

Since the underlying premise of Steemit, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology remains sound, there seems to be NO reason to leave now... I'm just sad I had to power down some to meet unexpected expenses.
