Great post @mrs.steemit, thanks for sharing this! I've only been here a little over 3 months, but can already see that Steemit is different from any other social content platform I've used (which has been plenty!) in the way that people here seem to not only authentically care about each other's welfare, but also care about the ongoing health of Steemit, the platform.

What makes this unique-- and a stroke of genius-- is the way everyone can become a stakeholder through building SteemPower. At an immediate glance "the rewards" are nice, but I (as I am sure many others, as well) keep finding that I use them to power up rather than cash out. And it seems that is what's going to anchor Steemit's long-term growth and health.
