I'm interviewing Bitcoin Cash's Roger Ver in a "First on Steemit" segment

maxresdefault.jpg

I've been trying out the idea of publishing certain content FIRST to Steemit before it hits my other platforms (YouTube, podcast, tv, radio, etc). Tomorrow I'll be interviewing Roger Ver of Bitcoin Cash fame, and I plan to make it another "first on Steemit" segment.

What questions do YOU want asked of Roger Ver? What Steemit-related topics should I bring up? We will certainly discuss Bitcoin Cash being added to Coinbase, but I'm open to hearing ideas from the Steemit community.

I hope to get as many interesting questions as possible from Steemit for what I think will be a compelling interview!

Sort:

Since he hates censorship so much (as most of us do who used to read r/bitcoin) ask him to start posting more on Steem as well since he already has an account here. :)

@rogerkver

I'll try to post more here rather than lurking.

That's great to hear! @rogerkver
I mostly lurk on Reddit nowadays but I appreciate r/btc's open moderation log and use it a lot more than the other subreddits.

I'll mention Steemit for sure!

It was a frenzy when it was added to coinbase.
This guy pushes it a lot.
Wait and see.

Certainly

Can you ask Roger Ver what his views are on the looming battle between anonymous cryptocurrencies and governments?

Ask him if the Steem blockchain is actually not closer to "Satoshi's vision", compared to Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash.

  • People using their computer to "mine" money ✓
  • Zero transaction fees ✓
  • Scalable ✓

And actually way easier to use!

I would be interested in hearing his answer to that. @rogerkver is on Steemit, but hasn't used his account in months.

Very cool, I'll try to work this in. Thanks!

I think we should stop wondering what Satoshi would want and instead consider how to improve upon what we have.

I agree. But it is something @rogerkver brings up often when he explains the reason he co-created Bitcoin Cash.

So I would be interested in hearing his answer. He will probably say the Steem blockchain too centralised or no limit on the amount of coins. And that't be a fair answer. But is that really a problem though?

He will definetly answer with inflation.
I would like him to tell us how is BCH better that other coins that already don't have a block limit, are cheaper and have best privacy than both BCH and BTC.
I believe there are better alternative coins for the role of cash than any of the Bitcoin Family Coins so I'm curious as to why he is not promoting one of them against BTC instead of BCH.

That will probably be his answer, I agree.

But then I agree with @acidyo who commented here too. Then he should at least use the Steemit website for posting content, as it is censorship-resistant.

That's still a good reason, I guess...

This is an important question to answer. It's one that's been popping up a lot as of late.

I could give my own reasonings here (not that I think it's the best necessarily), but it would probably be best to hear it from Roger himself.

Like us other libertarians, he's probably going to be critical about the inflation and who holds the keys to that from a money perspective, but Steem isn't a state and it isn't just about money after all. It's a different concept as compared to Bitcoin.

I used to be more critical about inflation too. But after doing more studying, I think there is not always something wrong with it.

For example, the Steem blockchain needs inflation to be able to function.

More important than inflation itself, is who the money is going to and how transparently this is done.

I read this book about the topic recently, and is certainly worth reading.

Sure. It's a baked in cost. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if it's paid as a form of extortion and you get nothing or perhaps worse in return, then it's a problem. At least one of those things happens when a state is in charge of it.

In the case of Steem we are simply voluntarily choosing to use a certain product.

I do agree with all of that!

Yes. Fiat can be printed to infinity. If a coin can be printed to infinity, it loses one of its key distinctions from fiat.

There is a difference between having some inflation and "printed to infinity".

One big question is if there's an incentive to print to infinity. With states it certainly becomes a lot easier, because the citizens don't necessarily have the power to oppose getting ripped off.

With a different system, the incentives might theoretically be such that everyone loses out equally and clearly so. Then at least there's much less to fear, even if the risk is not entirely mitigated.

There is little wondering really. He said it in the white paper and later on the forums. But yes, we can't rely on him to tell us what will be best. That's up for us to decide.

Hey in this post I wish you nice dreams my friends 😘🤗😊😇 Help me little if you have time follow me upvote I will do same back just to make us happy let's vote for us❤check my profile ❤❤💋💋https://steemit.com/life/@justynatina/sleep-good-my-friends-follow-and-upvote

I'd be interested to know why he feels the need to bad mouth the competition. It seems to me both btc and bch would do better working together than being at such odds all the time. I'm no expert but yesterdays fiasco smelled of a coordinated attack (the timing was too perfect to be a coincidence) and now the entire crypto community is suffering for it. I get they want to be number one but.....seems to me performance and unity would go further towards achieving that than this constant antagonism.

Oh, and great get on doing it here first. That really is a coup you're pulling off for the benefit of all of us. Seriously, thank you!!!

The two tokens are being traded for one another and both have good liquidity, so it's not strange if one rises when the other falls considering that they are now working on different principles. People try to swing trade both or to hedge their bets.

"Bad mouthing" can take many forms. For years now BTC developers and supporters have badmouthed dissenters, censored debate and manipulated the public in many ways while letting the blocks get ful in spite of this not being necessary and going against the plan of Satoshi. It continues.

The difference is that blockchains are a competitive space. When the product is not delivered, others fill the deman.

I would ask him if he thinks social media and a currency can be one, and actually why they should be separate at all?
I think the future is that your identity is kind of mixed with your assets...

@davidpakman this great! He's great to watch, there's always new information to be learned from his interviews. Hope to come up with a juicy question! Best wishes...and Steem on. - @splendorhub

Wow. I will be very excited to see this. What a divisive figure, this should be amazing to see. There is going to be a lot of hatred and then a lot of love.

You should try to get Andreas Antonopoulos, that would be HUGGGGGGEEE!

I have actually tweeted to Andreas twice offering an interview but so far haven't heard back.

Wow. That would be soooooo cool. He is such a beloved character in this space. Thanks for killing it David. We love you.

That would be great though. As your channel grows even more he will respond. That would be so great

david Happy Birthday every year and you are fine and ask you a gift by the way .... Thank you

There are more people that know about Andreas than Roger and Steemit combined.
In the case of AA I would consider it a win if you could make AA just mention Steemit.
That would really be great for the platform IMO.

Awesome opportunity, resteemed.

Less of a question, and more of a comment: Roger might do well to attempt to look more reasonable than the opposition on merits other than technical grounds. The mudslinging on all slides is divisive to those who don't understand the debate, which is over 99.9% of the world's population.

The censorship and propaganda necessary in places like r/Bitcoin don't need any embellishment or snark thrown in - they speak for themselves to any reasonable audience.

HISTORY OF CRYPTOCURRENCY

2010: you can buy a pizza with bitcoin!
2017: you can no longer buy a pizza with bitcoin

He's mentioned he doesn't believe Insider Trading occurred during the listing of BCH on Caoinbase, GDAX. Find out why he believes that and why he thinks it's not a big deal if it actually happened.

Great Segment idea, looking forward to more firsts.

definitely plan to ask about this.

Be careful he tends to flip shit over stuff like this. Refrain from calling it Bcash unless you want a shitshow haha.

You mean David should actually behave respectfully and not chant words in an attempt to upset his guest? Yes, maybe that would be the mature thing for a show host to do. I think you're onto something here...

If you do, please make sure you also define "insider trading" and the major implications the term has. Otherwise the two of you won't be speaking the same language.

Ask Roger Ver how bitcoin cash plans on keeping the nodes from centralizing once bitcoin cash blocks fill, it will take up to much storage space on labtops/computers to keep a log of the entire blockchain, to where only large corporations will be able to run a node.

You can find the interview here

I would like you to ask all of these questions.

How was San Jose, CA as a place to be born and raised?

What was going thru your mind as you were entering prison for the first time after pleading guilty to selling explosives online?

Why did you denounce your American citizenship?

In the period between when the BCH/BTC fork happened and Antpool mining it's for BCH block, how many BCH coins did you buy?

In the days leading up to the coinbase announcement, when BCH went from $1800 to $3400, how many coins did you buy?

When you acquired Bitcoin.com, had you already planned to attempt to manipulate the masses through misleading statements and near-criminal/criminal acts?

Thanks for your time.

Great news for us here on Steemit! I'd be curious to hear what Ver has to say about the crypto space as a whole, rather than solely focusing on the whole Bitcoin v Bitcoin Cash debacle. More specifically, which other cryptos does he see as viable solutions to the store of wealth and everyday transaction functions of Bitcoin & Bitcoin Cash and where does he see the market trending in 2018? Thanks!

Ask him about the new privacy feature that's coming to Bitcoin cash and how it'll stack up against coins with privacy built in. It seems the Bitcoin cash privacy will be off chain, mixing 2 blockchains. Kind of like what d.tube does with ipfs and steem. Some people think this mixing isn't ideal best to have the technology built into the chain. Also some people think privacy coins are going to take over. I think having a privacy option is good to have even on steemit would be nice to have some.

I will definitely ask about this if I can inform myself enough to not sound stupid between now and the interview. Thanks!

I would like to know if I can get a refund for investing my entire account in BCC last November after listening to why Bitcoin Cash was about to take over? LOL, yes it was a brand new account and quite the learning experience during that time.

You might also ask him if he was the one behind the 10,000 bitcoin wall sitting on the 10 mil satoshi mark whenever the whale was present. If so, please tell him thank-you for continually bringing up the price before once again disappearing with that gigantic wall.

It was lot's of fun trading when the whale would show up with his calling card (10,000 bitcoins) but that all changed when the smaller 2500 bitcoin wall at 12.5 mil finally came down. I thought for sure they'd return and bring the price back up just like they did multiple times before. Unfortunately, they never came back and I never sold until it was too late.
I'm assuming it was Roger but don't know for sure. Clearly, the 10,000 bitcoins was more of a status symbol and was never meant to buy BCC at any price.

Seems like there are a lot of satire questions here with a majority of distaste for Roger lol.

Ask him how he feels about the CNBC Fast Money Twitter poll of which side of the "Civil War" you are on. As of writing this comment, 38k votes 80% Bitcoin/20% Bcash. Which lines up with the market quite accurately. Feel free to quote this question by using the term Bcash. You don't have to ask him that... I want your interview to go without altercation lol.

Sounds great! Where does he see alt coins moving for the future? How is steemit fundamentally shifting the idea of economic empowerment for individuals?

like your post

That's a great idea, I hope you do.

Ask him if he truly believes Bitcoin Cash can surpass bitcoin and how Bitcoin Cash is an improvement on Bitcoin if the transactions time is only slightly shorter. Why would he is the problem a little bit, but not all the way. And is Bitcoin Cash able to handle the transaction load of Bitcoin better? I personally don’t believe so since the coin is pretty much a copy of Bitcoin

I was very interested to see him. I hope you are already very happy.

If steemit works for you, then go for it! Nothing wrong with doing what works.

Frankly, I want to see steemit take off. Hopefully someone like yourself with content here first before anywhere else will help.

Where does he see Steem in a year? Can't wait for the interview :)

Can he, does he, have the power to manipulate the markets?

Does he think BTC and BCC will have a flipening? the Cashening

I can't remember who made that web page, but of course I found it here on Steem!

Thank you so much for throttling your pipeline of Steemit-exclusive content. I see you, and I’m appreciating you on behalf of everybody who wants the whole ship to rise.

Wow so nice... More strength to your elbow

Thanks for your new post... @davidpakman

Whoa, this is going to be awesome!

I'd like you to ask if he is lying to people on purpose or if he just doesn't understand what the blockchain is.

I really want to see this!

this is very good, thank you @davidpakman

Happy Birthday every year and you are fine and ask you a gift by the way .... Thank you

I would like to know if he can explain better how the nodes will diversify. I get that it is more expensive. Maybe I am misinformed here but to the best of my knowledge so far it seems the majority of the nodes are in China. It seems as if it is at risk to the Chinese government. How can they get more spread out around the world to remain truly decentralized.

yes - my understanding is that the 8MB blocks require considerably more hash power to mine and that there are only 2 mining pools currently able to mine BCH. I would like Ver to explain how this centralization of mining is not at odds with the decentralized vision of Bitcoin.

Where are we going to move to next???
A lot of us would LOVE to be in a position like his - Global mobility.
BUT - which country has the best combination of FREEDOM + Tax Laws + Stability - to actually live in and subject yourself to their laws?

This is a new post which is very good I'm waiting for more new posts Thank you

spits on bitcoin cash

Can you ask him what other things Bitcoin cash is working on to scale in the future? Sure they went from 1MB blocks to 8MB blocks, but it's only a matter of time when it too is not enough?

Also, today we mainly buy BTC in order to buy the other cryptos. When will we be able to use BCH on all exchanges to buy alt cryptos? I ask this because this would be the best way to win for him. Give people an alternative that is cheap and fast to transact and easy to use when buying alt coins. I mainly only buy BTC today so I can make an immediate purchase with it of another coin. I hold only a small amount as an investment.

Please ask Roger , what is causing such sudden drop in value of bitcoin , there must be some other factor then adding BCH . nothing drops that fast
maybe tween towers being an exception .

Is crypto-currency the currency of A.I.? Meaning will it be maintained, influenced, or controlled by A.I. Well the block chain more specifically, but you know what I'm getting at hopefully.

Ask him if he had to choose one: Bitcoin Cash or DASH

Sorry, @davidpakman, I just read, I am very interested in steemit, can help economic empowerment and reduction of unemployment in my country Indonesia.

Thank you Steemit.

Great! Really looking forward to this one. Most people thought BCH would go down, but they were proven wrong.

I never really researched/listened to Roger a lot but he really has to come clean with what happened in this interview.

Take a look for yourself with the full context:

Effing Roger! The $36 vote on your comment shows that you are really sorry how you handled the situation. ;P Not sure if you are aware about it but in the pronouns debate the argument "If you say someone you dont want to be called X, they should not call you X" is the losing side.

Anyways, I think there is a lot of shady shit going on in Crypto and you being a little emotional is not really a good reason to not hold BCH, but that is exactly what many in the BTC community did and still do.

I for one will only be buying Litecoin as a BTC alternative.. Forget Bcash.

Roger ought to take some cues from Charlie Lee. Charlie is what an honest spokesman for a coin should look like. Extremely intelligent, humble, calm.. basically everything that Roger shows himself not to be.

Welp as I said I never looked too deep into all the drama and I was aware that the video I linked is strongly edited to portrait a certain picture of you.

I actually wrote a post a month ago that is quite positive on BCH https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@thatgermandude/why-i-am-sceptical-towards-btc-classic-and-hodl-my-bch

I don't think you should judge a product by the character of the people promoting it and while I do think that having a thick skin is important, I understand that for you Bitcoin Cash is just not some random internet debate, so maybe it is unfair to demand for you to stay emotionless about it.

Looking forward to the second interview with Pakman where you discuss more about politics, I would love to jump into that discussion in the comments.

Maybe someone should tip off Rodger about Teal Swan..

This man seems like a nice, reasonable dude. Has a great sense of perspective.

Totally not a selfish charlitain. Nope. /s

There is ZERO excuse for how he acted in this interview. That was the most incredibly arrogant display I think I've ever seen. That's not even mentioning his arrogance towards Andreas for not having enough money in BTC.

Honestly, I would ask him how he can ever think it's appropriate to judge and criticize people based upon their wealth? I'd like to hear him explain that..

Also ask him if he'll donate an equivalent amount of BCH to Andreas as others have done with BTC since.

Dalai.jpg

Seriously. Roger and I don't agree on everything, but did you even notice what got him so triggered? It took a great deal to push him over that edge. Good job of the "interviewer" trolling him both before, during and after the "interview"/"debate".

No he shouldn't have done it. But the arrogance on the other side was no less.

All I can say is that Roger gave us a very clear glimpse into his deeper character. Enough that I never want anything to do with Roger or Bcash.

He has a temper, sure. Maybe legit anger issues even. I've seen much worse though and again don't forget about the interviewer, that guy obviously is not a good guy. Same goes for someone like Richard Heart etc etc.

For all the shit that people give Roger, he has taken a lot of it especially these last few years without any outburst what so ever. Still, I'm not here to always defend him, but lets be fair to all participants in the debate. Give shit based on merit if their is shit to be handed out.
