Why Steem is so Undervalued + How Steem Can Utilise Reddit to Fix This

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Hey guys! Do you think Steem is undervalued? If you're like me looking at the potential (future) of this blockchain plus everything that's already been done on it, I feel we can safely say we are objectively better than many other (not naming names) coins with a higher market cap than Steem. Why do I think we are so undervalued? Simply because we don't have the WOW factor since we're such an old blockchain with not much more in development (lol jokes, SMTs!!), we don't have marketing and we lack exposure. Reddit is one of the primary sources of exposure in the crypto world, almost every top 100 coin has their own dedicated Reddit, but Steem doesn't really have one.

This post is a skeleton/summary of my main, more detailed post which I'll post regarding this in the upcoming days!

How Reddit Can Help

We need a subreddit. I made one myself but I realised it's a massive commitment , especially with @crypto.charity being launched I don't think I'll have enough time to moderate it so I'm looking for active moderators! You guys will be doing 99% of the work :)

Why this might help Steem

First, let's look at what my vision for this Subreddit is, any feedback on this vision is welcome!

The Vision

A hub of Steem discussion, where veterans can post updates, answer or ask questions and help newbies get started!

Posting links to your Steemit articles as posts on the Reddit should be allowed. However, PLEASE do not use this as a post promotion platform for unrelated posts

What should be allowed

  • Questions about Steemit from newbies and a pinned FAQ section
  • Questions about server downtime
  • General questions about the Steemit blockchain
  • Updates about patches and hard forks
  • Suggestions for Steemit's future
  • Steem's growth/decline and metrics

What I think should not be allowed

  • Steemit posts unrelated to the overall Steem blockchain ecosystem
  • Anything unrelated to the Steem blockchain's ecosystem

Features

  • Verification tool: link your Steemit and Reddit account by sending a unique memo from your Steem account to some account! This will give you a tag with your Steemit reputation (at the time of verification) and your Steemit name!
  • That's all I got for now haha

How This Will Help Steem

  • New to Steemit, no idea how to get started? Learn more from the FAQs
  • Help expose Steem's potential and developments to a wider audience
  • Help expose the Steem blockchain on Reddit, which is (arguably) the largest source of crypto news and information for the majority of Western crypto investors
  • More Steemians active on Reddit = more exposure for us, especially on already established subreddits like r/cryptocurrency
  • This is a cycle, as more exposure = more users = more questions + active subreddit = more exposure, etc

ANY support and/or criticism is welcome! Feel free to contact me on Discord (cryptoeater#5209)

Really a great idea. We must do this. Don't forget to invite me to the subreddit!

Until the signup process is not ready it's pointless.

r/steemit already exists. It's mostly just a syndication channel though.

Reddit is a very popular site, but since steemit is basically a competitor I don't think you're going to get much traction.

Hello friend, I am from Venezuela, enter this platform with the same intention, since my family and friends live a very difficult situation, I have had a hard time receiving the support of this platform. My desire has always been not only to receive help for mine but for many others. I join your initiative!

Steemit is a competitor to Reddit
Thus the reason Reddit will not be as helpful for Steemit promotion and discussion because the most powerful at Reddit want Steemit dead.

It also seems to me that steem is undervalued, and I think part of that is due to the payment scheme used by the platform, which makes it almost impossible for those who do not have dollars to invest to earn enough to reinvest in the same platform and stay with something of profit, I myself have written more than 80 articles of 500 or more words each and despite having almost 500 people who follows me in some of those post the gain is 0.00.
What is the secret to winning on the platform? I interpret that it is designed only for those who have the potential to invest in it, in that case the vast majority of Venezuelans are left out

@cryptoeater i upvote your post and i also accept you also upvote and follow me i already follow you.
thanks dear.
