Arcade City wants to be the driver-owned ride-sharing company. The story reminds of the tale of David challenging Goliath. Except that Arcade will be fighting two Goliaths: Uber and Lyft. Uber and Lyft collected a huge taxi market share and then increased their share of the fare, cutting into the salaries by which their drivers feed their families. The plan of Arcade City is to put most of the earnings, ride by ride, back into the hands of the ones doing the work: the drivers.
Christopher Davis, the CEO of Arcade City is currently raising seed money in order to pay for the development of the Arcade City ride sharing app. As the long-term vision is to put the platform into the hands of the drivers and does not intend to maximise the return on invested capital, the fundraising effort is challenging. An ICO (Initial Coin Offering) could provide for the necessary cash to get Arcade City up and running and bring it to the masses. It could work like Steemit, with the difference that drivers and riders get wealthier by the ride. The fancy limousines, funny drivers, and most direct rides are voted up.
Interestingly, Christopher Davis somewhat happily takes a role as an “Enfant Terrible” of the decentralisation movement. Police paid him a visit recently, probably rather as an act of intimidation, than with reasonable cause. Digging in Christopher Davis past, there are statements on real trouble around his person as well. However, his past might not matter to much for Arcade City to flourish nevertheless. A bit like with Robin Hood, a good portion of sass and frivolity might help to push the project to success. There is already a track record by Arcade City of providing relief to the needy and hungry.
There is also value by an Enfant Terrible to the decentralisation movement: current borders are explored and expanded. If the public honour is respected and not all laws broken, there is a good chance for Arcade City to succeed. And once the Ethereum integration is complete, nothing might stop it anymore.www.
I wish Arcade City good luck! May it go full steemit!!!
I really hope this kind of service picks up. It's one of the obvious applications to be build on the blockchain. Together with Uport as a reputation system, can't go wrong...
