in #steemit7 years ago

I never thought I would stop using Facebook. It was the only social media site I was on. Since I’ve been active on Steemit for the last few months I have not once been on Facebook. Now I am a totally hooked Steemican!

Take heed when you become a member. Steemit is so Awesome and Amazing that there are some unseen dangers ahead for you...

  1. You will loose track of time while logged on.
  2. You will become a Steem addict.
  3. You will breathe, eat and sleep all while thinking about Steemit.
  4. You will wake up in the middle of the night, grab your pen and pad because you can’t sleep off your next post idea.
  5. You will annoy your family and friends by taking pictures everywhere you go because you need to build up your photo files for posting.
  6. You will drive your spouse crazy by telling him to pull over in the middle of traffic so you can get that perfect sunset shot.
  7. You will drive your kids insane if they hear this phrase one more time “come on kids I need to take your picture!”
  8. You will abandon all other social media sites.
  9. You will be sleep deprived because you have to finish that project to post on time.
  10. You will become a full-time blogger.
  11. You will kick yourself because you didn’t join sooner.
  12. You will loose friends because of your new Steem language...they won’t understand.
  13. You will be so lost in Steemit that your family will miss meals because you forget to prepare them.
  14. You will cause your computer to crash from browsing the site for too long...”recomputing.”
  15. You will risk losing your day job by taking too many breaks to Steem.
  16. You will want to sell your home and move into a tiny home to travel the world.
  17. You will dream about Steem everything.
  18. You will not stick to your posting schedule but will began to post on off days.
  19. You will meet awesome people and get frustrated that they live so far away.
  20. You will forever be a Steemican once you enter the world of Steem.

You have been forewarned!!!

Now of course some of those warnings are over dramatic and meant to be funny but there are some that are very true. I won’t admit which ones are true for me! 😂

Steemit is a life changer, a game changer. I have become a better writer, a better photographer, more creative in my crafts, challenged to be a better me, a more knowledgeable woman and have met the most amazing people from all over the world. I am grateful for this plattform and for all of those that work behind the scenes to make it run smoothly. I am so glad I am apart of this growing epic movement and I’m looking forward to growing more and learning more. I’m here for the long run.

Feel free to admit which numbers are true for you! 😂

Have a great day!

yes, i admit as well. i stay more on steemit then on facebook. i just hope i will stay longer in real life then on social networks :)) what i love the most about it is that here nobody knows me! on facebook there are all my acquaintances and i never feel really free of judgment. here i am just a wolf screaming at a purple moon and i am loving it! :))

That’s a very good point that when you start on here no one does really know you. It’s a fresh new way to meet new people from all over. I am glad to hear you are loving Steemit as well. I can really see myself apart of this for the long run. As long as it’s around I’ll be here. Getting rewarded for doing what I love to do doesn’t get any better. Besides Facebook started to give me anxiety and stress me out. There were a lot of things about it that kept pushing me to deactivate lol. I feel like with Steemit I am touching lives and making a difference by sharing my life and experiences and people actually appreciate that and listen respectfully. I wish you well on your journey here :). Thanks for stopping by!

the only thing that i don't like it is that i spend too much time on it :)) i hope i will not get too hooked inside here :) seems more meaningful then facebook, indeed. i will see how it goes for me :) pleasure stopping by

I can definitely relate to that. My husband told me I just replaced my Facebook addiction with another lol. What I have done is set posting days. On the other days I may come in and check a few things nd curate a little but I don’t post every day on here like I started to do in the beginning. I always say this, as long as I’m having fun and I’m not stressing myself out then I’m doing okay ;)

What a wonderful and humorous post lol.

It's real an eye opener and most of the things you said are absolutely true.

Thank for this wonderful post, and happy steeming

Lol thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate you stopping by :)

You're welcome

Great post! and soooo true!
Steemit has most definitely taken over my life, but I believe in a very good way, it's made me much more motivated and has opened my eyes to endless possibilities.

Thanks for this thought provoking post @crosheille

Long live Steemit.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the truths of this post Ha! I agree, Steemit has taken over my life in a very good way! It really has challenged me in many ways which has made me improve on a lot of things. Thanks so much for stopping by and reading :)

Steemit is 10 versions ahead of Facebook. No ads (well you got bots that spam your comment section), you can add as many videos, gifs, pictures and words as you want and even get money for that.

If it wasn't for my business I would have quit Facebook a long time ago.

Yes I agree about 10 versions ahead! I had my crochet business on FB but let it go. That’s only because eventually I will be selling on Etsy. So I do understand about FB business and having connections on there for that.

Just deleted my facebook account and transferred admin status to someone I hired for $10 per month to manage that.

Facebook makes me stupid.

Oh wow! I did that too at first well only I didn’t have to pay the person because I transferred it over to my husband. He hardly even gets on FB so it was no point of keeping it.

HI! Yes I guess it's important to not get carried away. After years of reluctant facebook use I am beginning to be more engaging with this new type of social network and find it refreshing but hope it doesn't become full of all the old social media pitfalls and dead ends!

Since it is built on a decentralised, censure free by design, blockchain model (that's as much as I can glean) I think it will be filled with much more creative, useful and productive stuff than the adverts, bullshit and narcissism you get with facebook. Let's see what happens .. I wish you well with your steemit addiction and thank you for the warning!

Hello @martain! It really is a new refreshing scenery here. I think that’s what makes it so engaging. One of the reasons I’ve stayed is because it’s totally different from Facebook where instead of mostly negativity you get inspiration and encouragement. I can only see it getting better from here and continuing to rise. Thank you, I wish you well on your Steemit journey and thank you for reading my Warnings! 😄😉

No!!! They are true!!! I never thought I would jump all other social medias, yet, here I sit, steeming away!!

Hi @crosheille!! I hope you have an awesome day!

Yes, I kid.. some of it.

Lol!! It’s an undeniable truth! 😄😉. Thank you! I hope you have an awesome day as well!!!

Thank you!

Hahaha! YES! So many of these are true. My family is pretty supportive so far, which is great (some late dinners, a few days of mommy yelling at the kids to go play so I can finish this dang thing before the deadline, and SO MANY photos - haha), but for sure friends have no clue what I'm talking about when I start talking about blogging. lol I'm barely ever on Facebook anymore, only to check in on family/friends who are distant... I'm slowly trying to convince most of them to join steemit instead. hahaha

Haaa that is hilarious!!! I can especially relate to the go play so I can finish this dang thing!!! That is so funny! What’s funny is “our” camera started out only as my husband’s camera! Lol

I might check back on Facebook occasionally to check on people as well but it’s soooo far in between. Most of my family and friends are here in town and I talk to them by phone on a regular basis. Most of my Facebook friends are people I grew up with in school. Haaa keep trying to convince them to join you on here. I’m doing the same with my folks! 😄😉 Thanks so much for your hilarious response!!!! I enjoyed reading it! 😂

So true, only been here a week and have experienced most of the list already😂 Never been involved with social media before as looked like addictive nonsense, however addictive Steemit is I do believe it's a great learning and interaction site to improve your outlook on life. Thanks @crosheille

Hello @dukexox! I am so glad you enjoyed my post! 😁 Yes quite a few of these are true about Steemit. I agree with you in that it is a great interaction and learning site. It has been way more valuable to me than Facebook ever was. Welcome here to Steemit! I’ll have to check out your blog ;). Thank you so much for stopping by!

Thanks @crosheille keep up the good work. My blog is a big selfish to start with😂 I will do a more personal intro next week.

Absolutely! The more you write the better your post become! I learn something new every week to help improve my writing. It’s all a learning process and then applying what you’ve learned to your work. You’ll do fine! 😊

I've experienced many of the symptoms - including forgetting about dinner and taking pictures at the mall, which I've never done in my life.

Thank you for being brave to admit that! Oh you’re not alone dear! 😄❤️

These are funny and sooo true. My kid gets impatient when I say just a minute I have to take some pictures before we leave a place or I stop on the side of the road to catch a sunset picture. And no, I’m not saying which ones I get caught doing haha. Thanks for sharing the good laugh.

Haaa!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed them and can relate. I just knew I wasn’t the only one (dealing with “some” of these symptoms) 😁! Oh there are times when I am sooo mad at myself for not taking our camera. Thanks for responding!! 😄

Crosheille I wrote you in Steem Chat. Let's chat for a couple of minutes about Steemit
