I agree that silencing hate speech is not necessarily the answer. I believe the answer is to allow the community to recognize the problem and manage their own interaction with it. I personally will debate, argue and intellectually destroy those I believe are unjust in their hate for others. It may bring me down in the process but hate should never be unanswered and allowed to resonate in silent approval. Just my thoughts.
