You Can't Succeed If You Don't Try
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky
Wayne Gretzky was considered called "The Great One" in the NHL and the above quote is very true and applies to success. You will miss more shots than you take (i.e. fail more than you succeed) but in order to succeed you must fail.
In baseball Ichiro Suzuki currently has a lifetime batting average of .314 which is amazing! Put another way that means he has failed roughly 69% of the time.
So What Does This Mean To Me?
Plenty. Take for instance, Steemit. I can almost guarantee that the vast majority of us are not going to score a goal or make a hit on every post, curation or comment we make. In fact some of us might go through long dry spells were nothing seems to go right and it take a while to find our voice. This might be what is a long hitless or goal dry spell. Should we give up all together? I say no.
Maybe I'm Not A Superstar
Perhaps that's the case. Everybody can't be a Wayne Gretzky, Ichiro Suzuki or a Whale. Does that mean we should crawl into a a cave and go home? I think not. There are varying levels of success and one does not have to be king of the hill to find success. There are many athletes who are in the major leagues, minor leagues or just play for fun that have a positive experience with their game of choice. Think of the weekend amateur golfer.
Don't Give Up
So perhaps you are on a losing streak here or you haven't had any success at all. Don't give up. Keep playing. You will get your first goal or hit and it will be the greatest thrill! And remember you may have a few dry spells in between those successes. Don't give up. Probably the most important thing to remember is this place is supposed to be fun regardless of your "score".
