You can check who started following you or muted you even you will see who unfollowed you.
I find this tool very easy to use and with this I am always up to date and can follow them back, check their posts etc...

You can see who many followers you got or lost in one day and it will give you a hint which was your best day and from there you can find out, why? Maybe you commented a lot or had a great post? Or something else?
Just put your name in and hit search!
As you can see my best day was 8th Aug, I got +22 followers but lost 2. Hmmm.
