I haven't earned much yet, but I still love Steemit! Why? you ask.

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

I have been using Steemit for a little over two weeks now and have submitted several posts.  My posts have ranged from a few cents to a few dollars in earnings.  For a lot of people, such earnings are frustrating.  They feel that because they put a tireless amount of work in what they post, they should be paid for the time they have spent. I admit that even at first I felt the same way, I found myself asking "what makes one post better then another?" After several days of reading articles and getting more familiar with the platform and the people who use it, my views have shifted.  The earnings I have recieved for my contributions have never discouraged me as it does with some people who have been very vocal about it.  I am driven to try harder to write better and more meaningful content and continue to contribute to this platform.

Regardless of how much I earn, I will still continue coming back everyday. I find myself checking Steemit throughout the day from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep not because I think my next post will earn me a large sum of money, but because I find various articles on here interesting.  I tend to read a lot of the trending material to find out what makes them so highly valued and as a result, often end up coming across less valued articles which also catch my eye. Two things happen because of this.  1. I discover some great content that hasn't necessarily gained a lot of attention and end up following the writer and 2. I learn a lot - methods that help me improve as a writer and also about the content I end up reading, whether it's about another place in the world or some aspect of life, technology, or another persons life.  There is a great amount of knowledge floating around this place on almost any kind of topic you can think of or want to learn about and I try to contribute to that as well.

For all those people complaining that they have put in a lot of time creating an article, but have not gotten paid for their content.  I challenge you to look at it this way.  Look at the material and all that you have learned from reading it, look at the life lessons that others have shared with you, and finally look at the number of people who have actually upvoted or read your articles and see the comments for those people you have actually touched or helped in some way.  Use the platform to share your experience, knowledge, and any ideas you have to improve not only this space, but the world that surrounds you.

I personally find it very rewarding to be able to come to a place where you can pour your heart out and write about your day and any experience or knowledge you want to share with the world.  You can even come on here to vent and people will listen.  There is always someone who will be interested in what you have to say and share and in the long run I think we become better for it.

Thanks to Steemit and the community

Rewards are definitely not very consistent but you have to "play the game" as a long-term game. Besides, even if you get 10$, it's 10$ more than what you'd make posting stuff at any other social network, reddit, forum, etc. Of course I'm not saying that 10$ should be the target, but you get the point.

Completely true. All those bits and pieces add up over the long run. I believe Steemit is in its infancy and as it continues to grow it will become an engine for change in how we communicate and socialize and as early as now take the reigns from other social media platforms before it to the next level

I love steemit too :)

Yes! The great amount of knowledge floating around - and the artworks here - makes time spent on steemit worth it. The possibility of getting rewarded is a wonderful bonus!

I definitely agree - I also look forward to feedback which will make my future posts better as well

Me too. I've had one post that made it to triple digits, but the work I've put more effort into haven't converted into steem. And as you said, it makes me want to write better material and shoot better photos.
Also, I think that as a wider cross section of society join, a wider range of topics will find an audience

Yep I think more categories will be created as more people join and the amount of knowledge shared will be greater as well. Im excited to see the evolution of Steemit as it grows.

The primary goal is to write good articles and interact with the community, then the money woll flow. I personally dont care about money right now and recoomend the same.

I agree. I have found reading articles and participating in the chat rooms to be very rewarding. I have met many people and found a few friends from all walks of life. Hopefully one day Ill get the chance to meet them all in person.

I love steemit too...

Lovely post.
Don't force yourself to post because of the money. Do it because you enjoy it.
The money is just a nice side effect ;)

If people used steemit only for the money at play it would me a horrible place IMHO. In fact the worst posts i come across are mostly from people trying desperately to catch your attention for some "easy" money.

Steemit trumps other social media sites. Just mark my words, I won't be surprised if Facebook and others turn around very soon to find a way to start rewarding their stream of users for the time and resources they spend to make them who they are today. Steemit is it anytime! I only hope the idea behind this keeps it going.

I was thinking the same thing. Steemit will force other social media platforms to evolve. A new era is soon approaching!

I wish you luck! Steemit is great for sharing and remember, don't just look at the profitability. Just have fun and full Steem ahead!

Up-voted! I completely agree and can definitely learn from you. Sometimes it's hard when your post doesn't make what you expected. But, it isn't about writing good or bad posts its about keeping the Steem community alive. Just keep posting and keep being active and good things will come. Don't look at Steem just for the money. If you post great content and give it your best the money will come.

I agree. We can all learn from each other. It's give and take. Thanks for the input. Im all about the Steemit community!!

your this post is already more than all of mine.
some of mine are still zeroes or $0.02 though there are a few with some lunch money.
but hey, I'm still here too though I almost give up last week.
:-)

Dont give up. That is my advice. As long as you keep writing and write from the heart you will be rewarded. It will happen!

thanks for the encourage and advice.
see you around on other posts.
