Can anyone explain what is curation reward on Steemit? And how to earn it? I have been seeing ZERO earn ever since curation award menu is created. Appreciate some kind soul to explain further on this. Thank you in advance.

I upvoted You
You can earn money by upvoting good posts (you earn if you upvoted before it became trendy)
Trust me I have been upvoting non stop for the past 10 hours and yet still zero earnings. Upvoting on almost ALL new post. It just does not work that way.
you get less than 20 votes in 24 hours, you need to be in the first 3 or 5 votes that something might be seen as useful hours later by others in the steemit universe.
So you need to pick your marks between 1 minutes and 30 minutes and be under five votes for that new content.
more than 20 votes hurts your voting power, so make your votes count...
A few days ago i tried a specific tactic and it seemed to work very well in relation to steemit; however i do not see steemit as a get rich quick or easy system, but i am going to learn it. Which is why i intend to retry my system again soon.
In the mean time more SP 2 you...
HI there are a few articles out there that will tell you how the algorithm for curation works. But mainly you just have to read articles and like them. The rewards are based on the timing of when you liked them. ( best in the first half hour) and how popular the article is at payout. (12hrs). You also can get an author reward if your comment. Is well liked by others. If you like more than 70 posts a day your curation rewards become diluted. Hope that helps you 😎
@andre-ager care to share a bit on the links to these explanation? I would like to study more indepth.
Curation is the process that is employed to prefer "good" content over worthless content. Steem users are expected to upvote "good" content. The reward is that if you're an early upvoter of a post that later turns out to be very popular (i. e. it receives a high reward) you will receive part of the post's payout.
The algorithm that calculates the reward is pretty tricky and has a lot of parameters, like your voting power, the time when you vote, the number of voters who voted before you and their power, the number and power of votes coming after you, etc.
Hmm.. does it not work when I simply upvote all new contents posted? Care to elaborate further and enlighten me?
If you simply upvote everything your voting power will go down to near zero.
The rewards intend to reward the work of selecting what is good.
hey and hi
simply curation is you proving your value to the steemit world.
firstly there are a lot of bots around and payouts occur at 50% to the author and 50% to the earliest curators over two time periods; the first 12 hours and the first 30 days.
your mission should you choose to accept it is to review new content; votes are degraded in less than the first 10 minutes and within 30 mins votes have the most effect...
the earliest decent votes gains the most curation reward dollars. however you only get 20 votes per 24 hours, so if you vote 25 times your votes degrade your rewards.
the trick is to find 20 topics within 10 minutes and 30 minutes that will likely become hot, trendy or go viral.
the stronger your voting history the stronger your SP and other rewards...
do a good solid job and you build up a stronger reward profile for yourself do a lackluster job and your perceived rewards become lackluster.
good luck and good timing out there...
So there is some kind of "winner-takes-all" effect for the trendy posts. You're gonna upvote what others already upvoted to gain money and ensure that the pay out is high, but it doesn't guarantee that the quality is there, just that there is some informational cascade
I see which means such system is flaw by nature. :(
Well, the limit of 20 votes per day and the decrease of gain based upon the number of previous voters reduce this effect. Maybe it can be completely fixed with the proper regulation, either it comes from the Steem or from the community, but yeah, right now, I think it's a bit flawed. Even without taking into account the voting power of whales who make post trendy just by the amount of money they can give.
