Investing in the community is the fastest way to get more exposure. I went and looked for posters who would relate and enjoy my material, and now there is a small community forming around the type of topics we all post about (anti-war/politics).

The money comes later, but once you have a community, you will find that something you post outside of your comfort zone will also get more and more exposure.
