RE: Is it true you only earn for 7 days after posting and nothing after?

Okay. Wow. So I should just post elsewhere and get ad revenue permanently. I was about to write a post over the course of a week, but why bother.

Hey Chalchal, at first hearing this really took the wind out of my sails although honestly after thinking about it and after hearing about the reasons for this it doesn't really bother me as much.

First off as someone mentioned because the nature of the Steemit platform, currency and overall just how things are setup, it was explained to me that if content earned forever there would basically be an inflation problem, either that or the rewards would have to be evenly split amongs ALL the old content as well as all the new content and it would probably cause rewards or earnings to drop substantially as it needs to be spread out across so much content and so many users.

Someone else brought up how most content does best when it's fresh anyways and to some extent I disagree. I'm a Youtuber and I get probably majority of my vies in the first hours and first days after I post a new video. That said it is nice that some videos which are on evergreen topics wind up continuing to be popular and earn for years after totally passively.

I guess I've realized that for now it is what it is. This whole platform is still in beta testing which someone brought up so I imagine potentially if people wanted it to it could change as far as rewards accumulating after 7 days. I'm not counting on that to happen but again at the end of the day it's not as bad as I initially thought.
