Don't Get Discouraged, Now is the Time to Grind!

Something I like to do every few weeks, if I can find the time, is go through my following list just to see what people are up to and curate some content. Unfortunately, as I was visiting people on my list recently something was amiss.

Blog after blog was turning up inactive; Steemians had gone silent. Coming across an inactive blog isn't totally out of the norm, but I could hardly believe the increase I was seeing in decreased activity. I'm not sure what a good definition of inactive would be, but lets say two weeks with no blog entries and one week or more of no comments.

I am particular about who I follow because I want to enjoy what I am reading and support good content. The people I am following, however, seem to be getting discouraged. A natural physiological trait is becoming discouraged when one does not feel rewarded for their efforts. In the stock market, or overall crypto market, we see this all the time, people selling when prices are low and buying when prices are high.

I have no crystal ball, Steem could very well go lower or stay about where it is for the next six months or more. Or maybe this is the extent of the dip and we will be headed to new highs soon. Regardless, now is not the time to get discouraged. Now is the time to grind! Even if your earnings are way down, as they are for most people, the time and effort isn't wasted.

You are still building followers, Steem Power (albeit slower), reputation, and relationships. When the price of Steem starts to rise, and we enter another bull run, you will be in a prime position to capitalize.

Now is also a great time to buy a little Steem with prices gyrating in the vicinity of a 75% discount to the all-time highs. What if it goes even lower? Buy even more! I'm not saying you should risk your kids collage fund or anything, but if you do have a little spare cash, now is a good time to pad your SP a little bit.

It's easy to forget that during the last big run up to $8.00 there were scores of people wishing (myself included) that they would have put more time and effort into Steem or that they had bought a little more. Don't make the same mistake again! Put in the effort now and be rewarded later!

Now is the time to connect with the users that are here for community over profit.

I have not found a single site that has brought me so many personal and caring relationships so quickly! I am overwhelmed with the amount of support pouring from some of our users, and it is so clear that the possibilities of this platform are endless given the right willpower.

I am working right now on really curating my community interactions, spending time comenting and upvoting content that really hits home. This is one of those posts!

I've noticed that with the drop in cypto, so many people just seem to disappear. We don't see this kind of drop in interaction on facebook or instagram though, so whats the difference?

Could it be that people are focusing solely on their rewards instead of their community interactions?

True success comes from integrated individuals who support each other and invest in each others' strengths and stories. Here we are, at a prime time to see these folks eye-to-eye, don't give up! Steem on!

You are totally right, I should have emphasized the relationship building more. I too have made several good connections with people. More then on other platforms and Aimee would say the same.

There are more reasons then profit to Steem!

Too bad I just now saw this or I'd have commented sooner! Thank you for the encouraging post. I've noticed the same thing you have. Of course I can't say much since my own commenting has slacked a bit...I've been struggling with time management lately, what with Steemit, sewing, volunteering to edit an e-book, and outdoors chores picking up due to spring, I keep dropping balls. I was staying up till midnight, 1 AM to Steem but it caught up to me and I've been in a physical slump from it for the past few days. Ugh! Gotta figure out a better juggling schedule!

Yeah, I've had to slow down a bit too because we are starting to put some of our time towards our house build. Permits, house plans contractors, all the stuff. I haven't been getting enough sleep pretty much since the twins were born.

Hello Matthew,
I have been super busy lately and the wife and kids have been steeming more than myself. I am trying to find my way here and have not quite found it. I seem to stand up for what is not very valuable to most of the steem community.
I am ok with that because I understand not many people are ready to deal with the harsh reality of our world and the world agenda. I have been fighting the good fight for more than 25 years now. The cash rewards are few but I sleep well at night.
I just recently got attacked again and if not for a few friends like you, @valued-customer and @rOndOn I might have quit.
Thanks for the encouragement, advice, love you have given my family and the great post you often make. You are an awesome example of the kind of person I would like to be.
Thanks again!
I have some Ideas but I cant seem to get the flow going. I have an update on the Dicamba article we did. I need to work on part two about our Republic. I am working to get the chicken coop more automatic so we don't have do as much. Were getting ready for an incredible vacation and that will be an astronomical amount of content. We will be making lots of video from that.

Thanks for this post I needed some encouragement!

I might also say we have only bought steem and sbd and never made anything compared to what we have spent in hard earned cash.

You better not quit unless you could really live with it. The awareness circles are alive and slowly finding each other on here, and they MEAN it. I always enjoy your comments when I see them all over the place, but I guess I've never let you know. Now you do ;)

Wow thanks for that.
I don't want to quit, I am a quite sensitive individual, some times the harshness of myself and others makes me sit back a reflect for a bit. Just to ponder how I might have responded to get the desired result.

I only hope to make our world a better place for all of our children to live and have their being.
With all the fake left right paradigm propaganda it is hard to get anyone to understand that we all have so much common ground. You know the common ground is what we all should focus on. For example we need clean air, water, organic food, access to the things our bodies desire.

I was talking to my wife today how animals are allowed to eat and drink what they feel they need to live and prosper. But humans are not allowed to do that. We have to have permission from someone that we would never associate with if we had a choice. And then we can not get what our bodies desire we can only get what they prescribe to us.

Even in law it is this way they tell us that evil is good and good is evil. And we submit because we are afraid to have our lives destroyed.
Most of what we tolerate is contrary to our core human instinct.
I often wonder if we will ever be truly free in this life?
I will follow you I have not run into you on here yet? Thanks again for the kind and thoughtful comment!

"Humans are the only species that have to pay to live on Earth". I still find that idea as powerful as ever. Especially because we have the technology to overcome scarcity if we so choose, but instead we consented to artificial systems of scarcity, and then shut up and keep paying thinking it to be unalterable. Which is insane in light of the facts and our position on the human timeline.

I am zeroing in on law as well. Legal fiction is one of the most incredible things I stumbled upon in the last years, and how they pulled it off bringing us into the fictional domain without us noticing. And the door is slowly closing.

I think we will be free soon. But I have pretty much given up on the romantic idea that everyone will make it to that state of mind in time. To some the door will be left open who decide to go for it in the near future - for the others I fear it will become increasingly pressing and difficult to find the way out as the system amps up its narrative and contemporary fairy tales, to further ensnare those who have not noticed "anything" yet. Or rather, for those who just can't fathom that it was all a lie. They will follow authority to the bitter end, and maybe that's the way it has to be. I stopped wanting to save everyone, I oddly feel it messes with the Earthly story somehow.

We hadn't quite connected yet, we merely had the pleasure of commenting on the same threads, don't even remember now which one in particular. But your way of.... (I remember, it was on the censorship situation with sneak)... your way of speaking straight to the point with that huge wide scope, your screen name and your thumbnail stuck with me, so I needed to build the bridge now before I lose sight of you again.

You are speaking from my heart dude. This bribery society modus operandi has long been bugging me without end, trusting authority in all the wrong places and using money as a crutch to excuse any and all unnatural human behavior as "just the way it is", effectively rationalizing the most backward and anti-life behavior imaginable. And majority deems it normal because it trusts the majority. It's such a circle jerk.

Will write about it next in relation to an ongoing series of catching up to where I feel I am today. I am really excited to read more of your view. It's a pleasure meeting ya man.

While not an easy road I feel like people on Steemit are more receptive then other platforms. I think people get too focused on the rewards. On other social media platforms it is as hard or harder to make money.

I have made lots of good connections even a few that are local here on steemit.

As for the SBD I would treat it as a risky investment. It is very volatile but there is a good chance it will go up substantially in the next few years.

We are treating everything in life as a risky investment.

I mean honestly the only ones that came out on top of everything are the ones that cause all the suffering.

Life is what we make of it they say.

But I think we can make it...... but then taxes, thieves, wives, war or death can take it away. So who cares you cant take it with you when you die.
Might I mention that the more stuff you have the harder it is to move fast. I have given away 3 houses full of stuff and now I need to have my biggest give-away yet. Stuff accumulates fast!

If you are skinny you are easy to kidnap. So eat more cake don't be a target for kidnappers.
How many fat people have you ever heard were kidnapped? Can you name one?

Interesting factoid.

Life is harsh but we make the best of it. When I see my children smile it is worth it.

My entire being is about my wife and kids. That is my point, our stuff rusts, decay withers away right before our eyes.
The joy of making any of my family happy is worth all I own.
The greatest riches I have are them.
We have it pretty good where we are today. But this life is like a vapor here today and gone tomorrow.
Like a beautiful flower that has just bloomed. Enjoy it now because it will not last forever.
I am very fortunate as a father and husband I have never been away from my wife and kids for more than 10 hours at one time. Now that @lovenfreedom works mostly remotely we are together always. We have never spent a night apart. I have not missed "Firsts" with my kids. I have been there to facilitate them.

I could make bookoos more money if I would keep my construction company going and be gone all the time. I was in business for 25 years doing that.
But at what cost?

I read this story, everyone should read it. It changed my perspective about money, life.
HERE

I've read that story before. :)

I can see that too and have to agree, it's time to up the ante! We're slowing down these days due to some family matters but when we get time, we get at it. Write posts and comments. What we don't have down yet is how to manage our Steemit time so we're consistent on both authoring and curating.

I have the same problem keeping up with both. Almost need a schedule. Your family still seems to be producing a fair bit of content.

It's indeed difficult to stay motivated but you're spot on. Now it's the time to grind and keep going. I'm glad that you guys are just doing that. Great work as always.

Thank You! ☺️

I so agree with you!!! I too have found that many people have either slowed down or disappeared. As you said, the ones who stuck it out last time steem went way down (before my time) did very, very well when it went up again.

Yup! I imagine things were pretty gloomy around here when Steem was at 7 cents!

I think there ws a mass exodus..... But exyle - I think that is his username - invested, I believe $1000 (don't quote me on the number) and bought a bunch of Steem. Now, any post he puts up, he makes hundreds because he upvotes comments and people flock to him...
I will just plotting along. Little by little....

That is good to know. Thanks. These things go in cycles I have seen it before in other cryptocurrency but I did not capitalize in the past.

I can't afford to buy anything - so, I just keep on posting and hope for the best...

Yeah! Now is the time to grind! Even if your earnings are way down, Really motivational.
Thank-u @canadianrenegade for the encouragement .

You're welcome!

I'll start righting soon... in my case it had nothing to do with the crypto market... I'm just recovering after surgery... and step by step i'll find time... to do everything.
I wish you all the best!

I hope it was nothing too serious and you recover quickly. I really enjoy your posts. Take care!

I was once like that. I just recently got back onto steemit after about a month or two of taking a break. I think it was because of the quick changes in my lifestyle that I couldn't handle both at once. But now that I think about it, I could've documented that and shared it with others. Now that I'm back, I'm starting to make a better effort to keep up. Thanks for the encouragement.

You're welcome.

I think that the key is to consistently work a little each day in order to get to the desired destination.

Yup, it's understandable if people need to slow down a bit but just don't quit.

Thank for that extra push... I have been feeling a little down on writing for tiny rewards.... but mostly for the last few days I blame the lack of writing from a damn flu that I am still fighting slightly!

I mean look i'm up at 5 am, a good hour and 45 minutes before I have to get up!

Thank you for the encouragement @canadianrenegade... I'm going to write a post now about a 1300 century castle that is being built today (started 20 years ago) with the same tools and skills!

There seems to be something going around I have had a cold for the last week also.

I'm interested to check out this castle article. When I was a kid I thought castles were so cool.

5 of 6 in my family are right now fighting some kind of bug that is making us cough, scratchy throat, and lots of sneezing. Just makes you want to sleep all day.

Oh nob5 out of 6... I'm sorry! Mine was a fever for a couple days and a soar throat for a few days...

Were all getting better, but now I am having a hard time sleeping and having some crazy dreams.
I took some Claritin for the first time yesterday.
I have been having problems breathing through my nose for about 9 years. Wake up all night with dry mouth and have to get a cool drink.
So I tried Claritin. I didn't want to take any, I feel that my problem is chemtrail related and there is no place to escape that.
I got the opposite effect from it than most side effects listed. It did help me breathe better, but I could not sleep, then when I did sleep the dreams were so vivid and weird I felt like I was awake all night.
I didn't get jittery or nervous but I only slept 4 hours and now I am wide awake and don't feel sleepy. I normally sleep 7 to 9 hours.

ouch.. That is tough. I am finally in the clear! I came down with it monday afternoon, thursday I was back at work, the fever was gone but I started a nasty soar throat and last night was my first night sleeping correctly.

Courage, you'll get better soon.

I wish I could sleep that long, my body wakes me up after 6 hours! But it's ok I do lots of things that way, well I think I do at least!

I hope the rest of your family feels better too

Agree completely. My feed has been severely lacking in this market dip, which is disappointing to me as I thought people were looking beyond the dollar signs and were here primarily for the community.

A healthy rationale to maintain while here on Steemit is thinking that if you were going to blog anyways, you'd likely blog on Wordpress or Medium, where you are guaranteed to earn a max income of $0. Whereas, here on Steemit you have the opportunity to blog, vlog, curate, etc. interact with a unique, generally forward-thinking community all while earning > $0.

In short, where is the downside? Hoping to see more others take this mentality moving forward and make this platform more engaging. Keep grinding!

That is a great perspective. Where else are you going to get paid to blog about stuff you enjoy!

A natural physiological trait is becoming discouraged when one does not feel rewarded for their efforts

Yeah: I noticed that in myself. Thanks for the motivational post.

You're welcome!

Guilty. But it's less a steem discouragement and more of a life catching up to me thing. Big changes are happening for me and it's taking a toll on my energy, but I'm still just as passionate about steemit as ever :)

We all need breaks some times. Although I feel like you have still been around a bit. I seen quite a few accounts with 3 weeks + of inactivity.

Folks are discouraged. I have seen it on my blog too. But the best thing to do is keep up with the grind. Things will get better and then everyone will be in a better position.

I have not posted in a long time because I need all my focus for a bathroom renovation. Not because of price drops do not care about that. ( But I kept reading and curating all the while.)
When it's finished I will start posting again.

Keep steemin' :)

It can be difficult to juggle everything. Thanks for continuing to be active!

Hehe, correct. I feel the same way and I am happy to say that despite the issues on the horizon I have really built a quality tribe on Steemit so far that is growing by the day with many likeminded people and great overlaps between areas of interest.

It feels like we are building a community within the community, which is utterly needed seeing the trends of bidbots and increasing frustration of so many with low quality trending posts. And the upper tier censorship of course that is probably the worst thing I have found about this place (but really no surprise considering the times we are living in).

That said, we can still make good use of Steemit to find and expand our tribes and to build that SP basis now for our future jump into self-sustainability, or whatever one's thing might be.

It's a grinding year for sure, and intuition tells me it will pay off massively - even if not in funds than at least in building a network that will become essential once the fiat ship is going down and life becomes tribal again.

Would just LOOOOOOOOOOOVE to time it buying some acres with all my work off steem before that happens but... it's all in the universe's hands now <3

followed ;)

I am also optimistic. There are definitely some things that need to be sorted out around here but no platform is perfect and here there is opportunity to earn a decent amount while community and networks are built.

aye, happy to be part of your tribe.

The drop is just a great time to get in. Before steemit I was doing the same thing on Facebook with no hope of anything to come out of it besides arguing with nasty ignorant people. The community here is much nicer to deal with and much more enjoyable to put out helpful information for them.

Yes! A lot less trolling and negativity on Steemit.

Totally agree with this.

By chance I have come across your post as I was doing the same thing - going through my followers.

Amazed and saddened how many people I have been following have gone dark. Particularly sad for all the homesteaders and preppers I have been following and enjoying some really interesting content.

Encouraging post!

I took a few days off because I had a bit of a depressed phase. Stopped right in the middle of a post lol

I guess I got caught up on farcebook in that time, and now I'm considering deleting it again for good. The community here is vastly better.

I'm glad I never got too involved with Facebook. My wife found a few good groups but it's definitely not worth it with all the data collection that goes on.

I took a two month break from it at the end of last year. That helped me realize how little value it actually contributed to my life. I've been far less active since rejoining, but I'm still there.

excellent working!
