introduceyourself - Cannabis Refugee Center #FarmsNotPharms

in #steemit8 years ago

Hey, I'm Brent, also known as BURNTmd, the microphone doctor! First I would like to thank my friend KennysKitchen for introducing me to Steemit.

My vision of building a Cannabis refugee Center has been manifesting for many years.
A few years ago, I started a charity to help fund my work helping patients with life threatening ailments
optimize diet, healthcare, and lifestyle. Helping people is a passion of mine.
Specifically, helping us better understand how to apply cannabinoid therapy to our specific issues.
Consistency is key, in order to help save a life when someone is physically ill.
Here is a short video documenting the necessity of a center for the type of work I do

My belief, and shared with many researchers, is that cannabis is an essential nutrient.
The human body has an Endocannabinoid system (the spell check is telling me this word doesn't exist)
In fact, medical schools are not equipped to teach about this major system that helps regulate our digestive system, immune system, neurological system and so much more!

Cannabinoids protect cells from free radicals. Free radicals are what cause havoc on our body, and if we can achieve a state of ketosis, our body will not be as susceptible to disease! Similarly, when we can make our plants healthy enough, effectively strengthening their cell walls, and even more focused; raising the brix count of the plant its soo nutrient dense a bug would not want to eat it, and the cell walls are so thick pathogens cannot penetrate it.

I take a #FarmsNotPharms approach to life, even though I grew up the son and grandson of Drs.
Food is medicine, period. I do not believe that much of what is being served to us here in America is food, by definition.
Allow me to explain, food by definition means:

Food - any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink, or that plants absorb, in order to maintain life and growth.

Therefore, if a substance has chemicals on it that inhibit life and growth, it by definition can not be food.
Considering most of the products in our general supermarkets are full of pesticides, fungicides, and sugars which typically run rampant on our digestive, immune, and neurological system - I would have to say that FOOD is precisely what are we NOT being offered on an overall basis. In fact, processed foods alike, consider all of the immediately available foods in our community neighborhoods, and then count on one hand how many of those options are legitimately healthy, and then consider out of the ones you deem healthy - why? what makes them healthy? do they genuinely source healthy ingredients or does it just seem healthier?

My whole life I heard about eating healthy, yet it just was not enticing. Eating foods that didnt taste good to me was the last thing I was going to do. Now that I am 35, I realize how connected not only my health is to what I eat, though, also even more immediately important; my mood!

Thats right, our mood is affected by what we eat and drink. Our mood is also partly regulated by our gut, so if we have a healthy digestive system, we will likely be in a better mood! Consider research 'probiotics' and 'live culture foods' to help cultivate healthy micro-biota. A happy gut is a healthy host. We have billions of organisms living inside of us, that are not us, literally feeding off of us, and when we make them happy, boy do they make us happy!

Eating for instant gratification is what is helping to systematically weaken our genetic code, at the very least - our immune systems, though think about it - if we over time stop eating 'food', eventually, we are going to die off..

i personally had to stop eating most breads, ice cream, sugary foods and snacks and boy did i love those !
That will be a different post ; How I lost 50lbs Eating

Brent

Great stuff!
I've all but given up on wheat products as well, and avoid sodas, sugary stuff, etc. But ice cream is still a weakness of mine.... :) Don't try to talk me out of it. :P
Looking forward to more of your insights.

i tried coconut ice cream with no added sugar other day - it was great and i didnt go out and buy another carton which means it really didnt have sugar ;) much love !

I have diabetic neuropathy and an MML card. I've found that having a fall back med is a good idea too. I like to lay off a couple days a few times a month. Seems to make the MJ more effective.

cleaning out our receptors can be effective for sure!
May I recommend considering CBD for helping to regulate your blood sugar
If you need a high quality compassionately priced source let me know

Sure, let me know. They have me on so much shit to try and control blood sugar, it's getting insane.
