RE: Using Steemit Comments To Lose Friends And Alienate People

in #steemit7 years ago

Thats great. And yes, I saw that green plastic frog too. But, Im thinking that the eyeball by the comments shows how many people actually opened the article. I keep seeing articles with way more votes than eyeballs, and I was wondering if thats what was going on there. I think even if it was my closest friend n I saw them do that, I'd be a little insulted. If you cant bother reading it then I dont even want your vote, much less your opnion.

Yeah, unfortunately, because of the nature of Steemit's reward system, we will almost always have more votes than eyeballs.

In fact the other day, I got really excited when one of my lesser rewarded articles, had almost as many eyeballs as votes, and loads of really interesting comments. I was so pleased, because it meant that people had taken the time to read it.

I am trying to do shorter posts; this one not included, because I think that will help with the eyeball 2 votes ratio :-)

The system is also set up more like gambling, and betting on what you think will hit it big that day . Instead of what you like and would like to support . I try not to gamble my votes, but sometimes its sooo tempting.

Hey, we all do it, from the smallest minnow to the largest whale, and I'm not denigrating anyone who does that, because that would be hypocritical.

I'm just saying; if you do vote without reading, then don't bother commenting, just move on, until you come to an article you want to read, and vote on, then comment on that. :-)
