I was thinking the same thing. I feel like the rise is more due to the impending fork. I still haven't decided what I am going to do. I don't really feel like moving my LC to a new wallet just so I can give the fork the private address of my old wallet. It just feels shady to me. -@bozz

Same mechanism as BCH and BTG, if you've got access to the private key (and not in the exchanges)...
Sweep your wallet to a new wallet.dat immediately after the fork snapshot, then import the private key from the now empty wallet into LCC.
Once it's snapshotted, you don't need an active balance and there's zero risks of losing your LTC. Only downside is a very small transaction fee for sending your balance between wallets.
