What Makes A House A Home

This question sounds easy to answer for many but not all of us quite understand and really give special thought to it. I was scanning through an article recently about how civilization has eroded us of our cultural inclinations, religious and cultural norms towards building a home. What makes a house a home?

To some, a home is a place to retire in after a days work. Others see it as where a family lives. Though, I cannot completely say they are wrong because it is all included. The funny thing is that we all seems to know what or where a home is but we never understood what constitutes a home. In my little understanding of what a home stands for, it means a place we find rest, love tranquility and peace.

In order for a house to be seen as a ‘home’, firstly it should be welcoming to all parties involved. You all wonder what this means, it simply means that it should be neat, organized, arranged, and alive with love for it to be welcoming.

Another factor that makes a home is being a happy family. A family is a very strong unit of a society. When happiness breeds from a family, it spreads down to the community and society at large. You will love your neighbors as you love yourself. A good home radiates happiness. Husband/Wife must endeavor to stay happy and reduce the nagging ( I so much dislike it) for the sake of the children they will be bringing into this world. In-laws, relatives, and children must always stay happy and tolerate one another. Majority of the religions even forbids anybody from breaking the family bonds.

Finally, let's try to do unto others what we expect them to do unto us. Always wish others well, do not envy or get jealous of another person’s success, be uptight and always pray to God to lead you aright. If we can all follow these golden rules, we are on the right track of making a good home.
