Why am I not Getting Enough Upvotes?

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

This is the question that Every new Steemian is asking & I am also one of them. I am writing a great content (I think) But still not getting enough appreciation from Fellow steemains.

I am following many experienced writers including  apsu , ashleykalila ,  everittdmickey, lndesta120282 , mantishands ,  munazza ,  newmarket65 ,  rockz , skreza ,  stephen-somers ,  darkflame & many others. I learned a lot from these bloggers & they are really helpful. Some of them, are advising me regularly where I am lacking. But the thing is "I am still not getting any appreciation from other members by writing my own great looking content". Even am not getting enough Upvotes on my well researched articles & this hurts a lot.

I always love to read the posts of these people & try to comment & some of them always upvote my comment If they like (I mean if the comment is not generic looking comment) & some of them visit my blog & upvote on my posts and that is the reason I am still continuing blogging here.

It's really tough to impress someone on Steemit (Like I am trying the same thing in that post :D)  to get upvotes.

I am working really hard to collect data & research the topics I love & then write content in my own words but after doing all the hard work my posts didn't get any upvotes (and that hurts). Maybe I am doing something wrong But don't know where I am lacking.

I want to get help from all of you please visit my blog, Read my posts & tell me where I am lacking? Why am I not getting enough upvotes on my stories? Please give me some suggestions that what I am doing wrong on steemit? Especially  apsu , ashleykalila , everittdmickey, lndesta120282 , mantishands , munazza , newmarket65 , rockz , skreza , stephen-somers, darkflame. Please!

I am also helping new steemians here about the things which I learned from you people. I am looking forward to your comments on this post. Please help me to get success.

Thanks!

A good start would be an introduction post proving you are indeed who you say you are. Otherwise your blog it not YOUR blog but rather a collection of content. Verify yourself as the author, and people will have an easier time trusting your content and upvoting it.

(self upvoted for visibility)

Your comment looks so encouraging and gives the vibe you want to help Ms. Bonniehere grow as a Steemian.. so I'm confused what made you flag this post :/

The person posting is not who they claim they are. Hence, the flag.

I dont understand what you mean by that? Do you mean they stole someone else's photo and using it to trick others? I did check Ms. Bonniehere's introduction post where a very beautiful white blue eye blonde girl's photo is added.. you saying its not her? OMG! Really? But hey a lot of people would like to remain anonymous.. would you flag them all?

Absolutely not. Anonymity is acceptable. Impersonation is not. All the images on this profile originate on a dead Facebook page. No proof of identity was provided. This is what the flagging function is for.

This is the Facebook page. It's been dead for over a year. https://www.facebook.com/bonnieeallenn

keep engaging and building your followers pay them with comments that will help

I like it

@newmarket65 thanks for your time & advice!
Yes, I am trying the same thing & it is working in a positive way. Just trying to grow my followers list (and it's gonna take a lot of time)

Your probably not getting to many updates because your using the profile of this dead FB account
Do you have any photo's not from this closed FaceBook Page?

I wanted to be anonymous, But someone here told me to put a picture here. That's why I used the picture from my fake FB account (https://www.facebook.com/bonnieeallenn). I lost my password to that Fb account 1.5 years ago. Then I created a new FB account (https://www.facebook.com/bonnieallenhere) where I already shared about Steemit.

Someone from @steemcleaners team said that Anonymity is acceptable "like @logic you are also not using your own profile picture".

I know I did a mistake here, But I am apologizing. I already lost my 10 to 12 SBD's & reputation level That's why I proved myself by posting a new post on my Facebook Profile. So, Please check my FB profile before taking any further action.

I saw your message on my wallet. I will research you later at night and then will give you a proper reply.

Don't forget. Keep in mind, please!
I am waiting.

they already answered what I was planning to say.. so I won't repeat.. hopefully you got what you wanted to know.. best wishes!

A question that is very often proposed by the beginner steemit. Indeed if we just joined in steemit very difficult to get votes and get friends. Since we do not have steempower yet, people do not want to be friends with us. But in my opinion, if we post articles that have many benefits to the crowd, I am very confident we can get votes and many friends. The point is to try to write something useful for the people. Thank you for sharing and hopefully you will be more successful to work ... :)

A agree 100% @reynakarina! Back to being patient and never giving up. This current article is very good and I hope will help others. I do not know why some with a high following and some steem power too frequently ignore newcomers.

always time i follow your post and resteem. you are a great soul.

although my steam strength is small, I will help as much as I can. I really support your work

But not you :D

I try not to, but I do not see everyone who is new to the platform. Also there can be abuse like multiple comments with little value to the post, and there are some with multiple accounts. I still help where I can. I do get discouraged when I see this happening, or have been told about things like multiple accounts. I like to be honest with people and I expect the same in return. So when I get discouraged about the negative goings-on I try to remember those who are honest and working hard at improving.

Yes, I know many people are running multiple accounts. But they all have a different purpose behind this. Some of them are spammers (who are trying to play with the system) & some of them are using multiple accounts for Good purposes. Like on this platform, We don't have an option to create a page (Like we have on Facebook). So, people are creating new accounts (like @humansofsteemit is created by an experienced author @ashleykalila) for a good purpose too!

Thanks for your advice @reynakarina!
You can look at my blog, see I am posting long & engaging posts which is helping the users in a positive way. But the main thing I knew from comments on this post is SP & followers (But both these things gonna take a lot of time).

main problem is that.your follower number is low. so whrn you post, this can not reach so much people....

@boishakhitripty thanks for your advice!
I am trying to grow my follower's list (But I think that's gonna take a lot of time)

Yes it may, so you need to be patient and keep trying. Keep learning and post quality content and in time you be very busy..

Hopefully my resteeming will provide @bonniehere with additional followers. And hopefully some with a good following will resteem as well. If we all work together we can help get newcomers launched...

Thanks for the resteem @r2cornell!
Yes, That resteem helped me to get some followers. Thanks again!

you are right @r2cornell. i hope i am also helped by you in this issue

Thanks my dear @r2cornell:- for your resteem. It is good informative post.
You are a great heart.

hello sir @r2cornell i really need to talk to you about some important things?
kindly answer me sir ?

Your questions and concerns are critical and being asked by many newcomers.

It was difficult for most newcomers to get upvotes when they begin. Even now with number of followers there are times my upvotes are not very high. Commenting on replies like I see you are doing within your own blog is critical, even though you do not have much steem power (SP). Upvote those who reply to your post, even though you may not have much SP to have an effect.

As other's have commented on reading other peoples work is very important. It can start bringing in small amounts of SBD and SP. I spent some time doing this when I began. This was prior to doing an introduction post.

patience, patience, patience.

You have to provide well thought out quality content when even commenting on other people's post.

You need to remember there are a lot of newcomers like yourself that are trying to do the same thing as you. You will pick up many as followers, but they will not have a lot of impact on upvoting your content...They just do not have the SP. You need these followers because in time their SP will grow and they will start having more of an impact.

Another way to build the needed SP is to buy some steem and power it up to steem power. I saw in your introduction post That you have other cryptocurrencies..you could sell a little and purchase some Steem and move it into your wallet and power it up. Actually now is a good time to buy a little due to the price correction. I bought most of mine at 16 cents, yet with price correction I sold of some other crypto's and bought more Steem. I sold off some tokens that were not performing well. Something to consider...even if it is a small amount of steem you purchase you can use it to lease some SP.

With more steem you could also lease some SP via minnowbooster or similar service.

Photos that are not your own you should note who took them.

All in all @bonniehere it takes time and patience. Many that have been on Steemit for awhile may not take notice of you for awhile. Do not ask for them to follow you or upvote you. It is frowned upon by many.

@r2cornell Thanks for Your Time, Advice & Support!

There are 6 things which I learned from comments on this post are...

  1. Upvote those who reply to your post, even though you may not have much SP to have an effect.
  2. Read other peoples work & comments on them (It will bring small amounts of SBD and SP)
  3. Provide Quality Content (even when commenting on other people's post)
  4. Don't Ignore newcomers, Try to make them your followers (With time their SP will grow & they will have an impact on your posts).
  5. Buy some Steem Power
  6. At the end, Success doesn't come in Days & nights. You have to wait for Months even Years sometime. So, patience, patience & patience. Just don't give up

I believe you have a very good grasp of things...another point HAVE FUN!

yes sir i agree with u@r2cornell

really sir...I feel this matter... when I.new I try to best write..
many support I found from many person.but now I am busy in my study..so I don't give good content...
now I.just simple photo gives here..
@bonneihera for ur logical post..its also help all.new steemian..thanks @r2cornell sir for ur sharing.
sir always inspired me💜💜

you are a great guy for steemian specially for new comers

wow very excellent post Thanks for sharing i will done up vote

@r2cornell i will follow what you said here .thanks

Very good r2cornell your coment...

I really agree with r2cornell, our desires are always the same, even though we know their intentions

you are always motivating for new users in steemit,
you are a very nice person,
let me be your role model @r2cornell

Upvote problems are often complained by new users or small fish in steemit including me,
Sometimes we create quality content that is even useful, but we do not get upvote, so many users are no longer ignoring the content ..

upvote are obstacles for all users steemit, terutam a new join,
is there a little ways you can help, so get an upvote..

One of the reasons you don’t get a lot of upvotes I think is because of the spread of Steemians around the globe. So even if you have a lot of followers they may not see your post for some hours, if at all because other posts will push it down so I doesn’t get seen. I now have over 2000 followers and am lucky to get more than 10 actual human upvotes. I always suggest that new Steemians spend much more time being social by adding good comments on others posts than writing to many of your own posts, you can get higher rewards from a great comment than a post when you have few followers.

Thanks for the advice & time @stephen-somers
I am doing the same. Look at my comments, I love to comment on other good looking & knowledgeable posts. I always appreciate my upvoters too by resteeming their posts & by placing great comments on their posts & get some rewards on my comments from the people like you.
But it's hard to get upvotes on Posts if you are new & have little followers.

I thought Maybe I am doing anything wrong on this platform. But as you said, "you have 2000 followers but hardly get1 10 upvotes on your posts". Now the thing is understandable. Let's see how other people will advice on this.
Thanks!

You can also interact with other Steemians offsite on platforms such as Facebook groups, Discord and steemit.chat , there is also the opportunity for post promotion on these as well. Keep on going the way tlyou are and I’m sure you’ll start to build you follower base and Steem power in short time.

there is also the opportunity for post promotion on these as well

Where? Can You please explain? or tell me your steemit.chat id so that we can talk further there :)

On steemitchat there is a post promotion thread which you can post your post links onto but don’t overdo it.
Also look for the Minnow Support Project here on Steemit and on their discord server with many sub groups for countries and interest groups.

yeah i agree with u sir

Keep working hard its the key to success and i am not an experienced writer .I am also new and thanks for your respect. The thing i do is "Hard work" ..Concentrate more on comment .Comment on those articles who gives upvote .This will help you in increasing your RP .

You are an experienced writer for me :)
BTW, Thanks for your time & advice!
And yes, I am Concentrating more on comments. Like You can see my comments on your posts (Almost commented on every post). I always try to comment on every new post of the people I am following. BTW, You still not telling me about the tag "r2cornell", I wanted to add you on discordapp but they were asking for 4 digit tag. Please give me that 4 digit tag or tell me your steemit.chat id.
Thanks!

Keep up the spirit and keep sharing things that are beneficial to others, although not getting upvote but useful to others ..

1332 is my discord app code

Just hang in there.
Don't give up. Keep posting and grwoing. Follower by follower. Fan by fan.
And show steemit to your offline friends also. Maybe you can convert them into steemians :P

The only trick is to don't give up :)

Thanks @rockz for your time & Advise.
I am following you from the day 1 when I joined steemit. But seems like you are not posting much now. Is everything ok?
And yes, I am showing steemit to some of my offline friends. But their accounts are in queue (I mean in the approval process). I am working hard here to build a strong relationship with other experienced steemians like you.
Thanks for your help!

keep the spirit and the post routine with quality content,
We both build in steemit for success

I agre with you @rockz You are a very social person

Previously I apalogize if to comment because it does not fit the topic. But I'm sure you're a nice and caring person, I'm pretty sure you're a great person of course, I'm very motivated with you @rockz you love to travel, on the go , you see abandoned children, I am sure you are a caring, loving and loving person so you can give a little smile to those children, it will be nice even when the valentine has passed.
I am sure you will want to be discouraged, if you do not please visit my bloq, i hope you can give input to my writing themed

** I MISS THE LOVE OF THE CARESS**
(Save the children)

Thanks you so much

@wiralhokseumawe This is not the right post to talk with @rockz, We are dicussing soemthing else here which will benefit other users. By placing a unrelevent Long comment you are wsasting other users time.
And I am worrying If some whale will see & flag your this comment

I apologize for the inconvenience, I'm so sorry @bonniehere I'm a new user who needs guidance ,, excuse me

It's ok. I am also new here! Just read the post above & comments on this post. You will learn a lot.

You can likewise interface with different Steemians offsite on stages, for example, Facebook gatherings, Discord and steemit.chat , there is additionally the open door for post advancement on these also. Continue going the way tlyou are and I'm certain you'll begin to manufacture you supporter base and Steem control in brief time.

******************YOU COPIED OTHER USER COMMENT***********************
The original comment was from @stephen-somers on this post
Here is the original comment...

You are good at copying other people's comment but not good enough!

Loading...

i am also suffering from this. but i hope i will get more attraction from steemit user in future.

I wish you will get success.
Best of Luck!

there are some reason for that.
1.your follower number is low
2.people not like your post
3.you don't upvote others
4.your post don't reach to more people

when you will follow more people on steemit maybe they follow back and take interest in your posts and get more upvotes..

Thanks for the advice But I think that trick is not helpful & not gonna work too! See other people's comments, there are many helpful tips in those comments

be consistent and never give up..consistency and quality posts are the key to success here but sometimes you still dont get the acknowledgement that your posts deserve, for that, you have to follow more people and many of them will follow you back eventually. quality comment on good bloggers posts can attract followers to your blog too.
i saw this post because @r2cornell resteemed it. defenitely following you now !

Thanks for the advice @mariahbill

  1. Never agreed with your following thing (Because that's seems like a follow for follow strategy which is against the rules too!, If I like someones work I will follow her/him & if someone will like my work then He/she will follow me for their interest)
  2. The 2nd point is really helpful (comment on other bloggers post, We can get huge rewards from comments & that's what I learned from other experienced steemians here)

nice learning post sir @r2cornell

That is mine post & sir @r2cornell just resteemed it.
BTW, Thanks for a generic comment.

This happens a lot when I resteem. I try to catch it like you have and remind people who's post it is. I cannot always do this, so for your posts have at it and remind people. Those who's post I have resteem deserve all the credit for their hard work.

That's not about the credit Sir. That means the person who commented above didn't read the post but commented.

Yes my dear @bonniehere:- you are right ...........
upvotes=quality.but great post = highest upvote= high quality.

useful information sir @r2cornell thanks for resteem sir

this is great problem for new comers. i had a post but no one saw this

everyday we can more learn when visit @r2cornell.sir blog...sir u share more important post..thanks for post credit

May you have successful on here, first i think concentrate on steem-power it is one best thing, if we get than we get here everything. First of all build steem power, comments there who up-vote your cOmment.
I followed yOu :)

me too, but some great hearted man like sir@r2cornell help me to do some better in steemit.

Hi, your post has been very nice. I am ready to vote and comment on all of them and hope you vote and comment. My steem id link https://steemit.com/@zarzish

That's not the right way to get Upvotes my friend. Read this post & comments on this post. You will learn a lot from this post.

It's always a long process. If you want quick success (or great success ever), you have to be exceptional at something.

Most users will in the end always get disappointed with the upvotes they will get on Steemit. As sad as it is.

As I think I have mentioned before, it's important to find other motivation than the money and post payouts. If I would want more money, I know I would do many things differently.

However I'm not doing this (only) for money. Neither should anyone else.

It's easy to say "I'm not doing this for money" and in most cases it's not true.

Quite many people have been talking about the socialization. You can do it in many ways and you can't assume there is one, right way. What works for someone might annoy someone else.

Just remember we are people. You can't force anyone to like you, but you can act differently with different people.

You shouldn't rely on the social contacts alone though. It's important to build up the social network in here, but self-improvement on every level is important.

How can you become a better author?
How can you improve your writing/art/photograph/whatever?

Good luck.

please use post with this webside :

I am writing a great content (I think) But still not getting enough appreciation from Fellow steemains.

To be honest, your average content is less than 10 lines long and regurgitated news with little added valu or commentary.

WHY do you think you should receive more upvotes, and thus rewards, for that level of quality, for that degree of effort?

The average Craigslist hired $0.02/10 words content farm writer produces content of a higher quality.

Just keep posting quality stuff, share them on Discord. Might be your post be chosen by Curie with many upvotes to the post. Just have consistency and quality overall and you will get rewarded by creating a committed following trail.

Shame it looks like one of the most commented posts by a new account on Steemit looks to have been flagged to Zero. Don’t lose heart. Keep on posting.
