I Can't Believe That I Got FIRED Today! Thankfully I Have Steemit!

in #steemit7 years ago

Today has been a rough day for the Bandito to say the least! I try my best to do my job to the best of my abilities, play by the rules and keep my nose clean.

That's why today I come to you with a heavy heart.

I received an email from my part-time employer that I would no longer be employed by them due to my popularity. Yes, you heard me right, I said that I was not popular enough to be employed by them anymore.

Who is this horrible employer you ask? None other than the greedy ass YouTube company themselves!

I received an email stating that since I did not have one thousand subscribers or a certain amount of viewing content, my partnership was being terminated!

Now, first let me tell you a little bit about my channel. I do have a small channel, only around 358 subscribers. But, I have a lot of videos, some are very popular and many are not lol. Popular enough that I was contacted by retail manufacturers for possible sponsorship's.

But I never had any intentions to grow my channel like many others did. Several channels do regular giveaways and give out lavish prizes to promote their channel. I never done that because I had no desire to grow my channel bigger than what it was already. I did a few giveaways just because I felt generous, no other reason. I never asked anyone to like, comment or subscribe my videos or channel because I felt like that wasn't a true giveaway. I never asked for shout-out videos or anything. I'm not knocking the people that do that, it's your channel and you can run it however you want to. But for me, I enjoyed the camaraderie and interaction that I got from my subscribers.

My channel contains all types of videos, everything from holster reviews and shooting guns to collecting precious metals. By far the most popular videos were the reviews on either guitar gear or weapons/gear.

I was excited when I saw this video get this many hits and it made me feel good to read all of the positive replies people left for me. Alien Gear Holsters definitely made several sales based off of this one video.

Although, one of my videos like this one barely received any hits at all. It doesn't bother me though, I more or less like keeping this channel as a video diary of my life in a way.

What bothers me is that almost all of my videos are monetized, which means that if you watch one of my videos, there will be an ad at the beginning of it that you can skip. So there's no telling how much money has been made in advertising just from my itty bitty channel. So for YouTube to tell me that I can no longer make anymore money from them because I'm not popular enough, really pisses me off...kinda. What do you mean by "kinda", Bandito?

So glad you asked, Curious Kathy! Let's talk about my revenue with YouTube for a moment, shall we? I joined YouTube in 2013 and published my first video in 2015. Since then, I have published somewhere around 130 videos. Now I hope you all are sitting down for this.... Go ahead and pick a comfy spot, I will wait.

After all of that time being a YouTube partner with all of those videos, including some popular ones, I earned approximately a couple hundred bucks! That's right folks, cash money I'm talkin!

But like I said earlier, I wasn't doing it for the money. It's just the fact that now YouTube doesn't think that I even deserve the few pennies that they throw at me lol.

Thank the stars above for STEEMIT!

Steemit has been one of the best things that has happened to me in a very long time! Not only have I met some beautiful people here, but I'm earning money in the process! This platform is so amazing and I am so fortunate to be a part of it in the early stages. By no means am I bragging but mentioning this as a comparison, but I made more money with one post and one video a while back here on steemit than I have with all the years and videos with YouTube combined!

If you're just starting out on here, don't get discouraged if your not getting the results that you expected. Look at it as trying to help others by providing the best content that you can and by being supportive to your peers. and the rest will fall in to place! I hope you guys have a great day!

Keep shooting, stacking and steeming!

This platform is going to the moon! Forget Youtube, get on board with D tube and steemit!

Yeah same thing happened to a composer buddy of mine and he ecen had the requisite 1000 followers....no dice.

You know where i pointed him to.

Well, sounds like a blessing! Now you can focus your time and heart where it belongs - here with us on Steemit :-). I know it's hard to be "fired" but again, it just might be the nudge you needed to focus here where you are appreciated and paid.

I agree with you 100% and I'm perfectly happy with my new home here on steemit!
I love the new profile picture of you btw!

Wow my friend. That is a lot of information. I am a little sorry for your Youtube partnership cash dissolution. But, with that. We gain you on Steemit full time. Sharing DTube as well for sure.
You are right about Steemit. There are so many good things to say and tell about Steemit. It boggles the mind that more people haven't already joined.
I agree with my Orlando Steemup Friend. People are going to be shocked when the true value of Steem/Steemit is finally made known.
Your Steemit Friend

Francis

I've wondered about that also, why there's so many that hasn't joined yet. But I do know that the day will come when it will explode and you and I will be glad that we both have a solid foundation in the platform!

Damn bandit that sucks! We like you here! And shit you can probably make better must here.

Thanks man! I wont be losing any sleep from them letting me go lol.

Dude fuck Screwtube!! Just keep stacking, shooting, and posting in this great steemit platform with people that appreciate you. Not that we don’t appreciate your screwtube channel, google just sucks! So fuck em! Have a great weekend brother. 👍🏼🍺🥓

That's what I say, fuckem!

YouTube is sucking donkey ass!! You are doing great here and I need to check out this D tube.

Yeah it is, I can't believe they done that. I appreciate the support, my man!

So sorry to hear about YouTube's decision towards your channel, but I do appreciate the encouragement you offer in this post. I really needed to hear it at the exact time I read it. Thanks!

No need to be sorry my man, just frees up more time for steemit! I'm glad you found some encouragement from this post!

I wouldn't feel too bad about being fired from youtube. I am sure worse things have happened in your life. Actually, it is a blessing in disguise. Now you can put your videos on Dtube and make more than you ever did on Youtube and folks are nicer over here!

Yeah, I probably won't lose any sleep tonight over it lol.

Sorry about the utube trouble. I think you do a great job on steemit. Sorry to say I am not a utube subscriber. Venture to say they will soon be replaced by guess who?!!!!

Now you can do more on here(where we love you) making more money in the process. I say goodbye and good riddance.
Keep up the great work and fun you share with us here.

All the best. 🐓🐓

No need to be sorry, it was just more of an insult than anything. Fuck em! I've got a new home now in steemitville, U.S.A.!

Sorry to hear it. I am not sure what the future holds for Youtube. It seems that they are trying to get more content consistent with traditional tv which brings the TV advertising. I think you stand to make more money on steem though. Looks like your off to a great start. Keep it up.

Yes, steemit has paid off many, many times over than what YouTube has. It's not even a comparison.

I have seen this a lot within the community of youtube, this is really ruining small creators because yeah they may not make a whole lot of money from youtube but with the small amount of money that they do make from youtube makes a absolutely big difference! I have seen a couple of my friends who were small on youtube and the reason they got bigger is because the small amount of money that they did get either it was 20 bucks in a month or in a year could help them buy new things for their channel like (Mics, software, marketing for their channel and much more) This has made a Hugh difference allowing my friends to grow! For example one of my friends who has a couple hundred subscribers and only averaged maybe 100 views a video and up to 1-2k views on a good day he was able to buy a new mic (He's 14) so since he's this age really its hard to make money so when get got this little bit of money from his partnership he ended up taking this a buying a new mic which in return he now has over 50k subscribers and close to 70k views a video! The small creators matter too...

I totally agree with you and it sucks for people like your friend. Hopefully, your friend can promote his channel enough to reach a thousand subs or... bring him over here! What does he have to lose? Learn to upload to D tube and see what happens! He might not make anything or he might make a few thousand bucks off of one video, there's no way to know without trying.

I totally agree! I think really all we need for D-Tube to actually get some recongnition is to have a Hugh youtuber come over and start posting here! D-Tube is going to rocket by the end of this year!
