[Multiple sources state that Poloniex is a horrible exchange, help me get my funds back please!]
Dear Fellow Steemians,
When I first started using Steem I was a little skeptical of how successful it could be due to a variety of things which were not entirely clear. There were many videos explaining the difference between Steem, Steem Power and Steem Dollars but most of them didn't fully expain the concepts to me.
In large part thanks to @jerrybanfield 's Steem user guide and helpful tips and after pushing through the Steemit learning curve, I decided to devote myself to making a living through posting on Steemit (in addition to a fairly passive investing strategy in a variety of cryptos).
To that effect I decided to send all the Steem I had on Poloniex to my Steem account to increase my Steem Power. Much to my dismay however, this was what awaited me on the Poloniex exchange:
I read @jerrybanfield 's post on why he decided to stop using Poloniex but unfortunately it was before that time that I deposited onto Poloniex.
Now I have a question for anyone more knowledeable on the topic than I am. They state that "they may require an update from the Steem team" in order release the funds.
Are they implying that maybe it's a problem which the Steem team are not addressing? I've heard so many bad things about Poloniex (please don't send your funds there) in regards to withdrawals not being processed and tickets not being answered to for weeks and even months so I find it hard to peg the blame on Steem. Still, I want to be openminded and inform myself as much as possible. Please let me know if you have any knowledge about this.
Also it would be good for the community if posts like this become more visible to everyone so please resteem/upvote this post if you want to warn others and help get the problem solved.

Many say that Poloniex is not a good site, I have bought "several" currencies and for now I have not had any problems.
I have read on the web of some who did not use the security code and were stole the money ..
I have also read, however, that it is better to put their own currencies in the wallet because of course it is safer.
Time ago the site was hacked but they returned the money to everyone.

The OP in that Reddit thread didn't use 2FA so that was mostly his fault and I don't think Poloniex should be blamed for that.

Upvoted to help the word get out. The problems people are having with Poloniex have happened before notably Mt Gox and later Cryptsy. The problems with freezing wallets with memos like the one in your pic are the start and withdrawal problems if they occur should never take a week to address. The writing's on the wall people get your funds off that exchange or wait for the big announcement on mainstream about Poloniex closing its doors. I hope I'm wrong but this don't look good.

I also hope you're wrong! In any case I won't be using them until they start regaining trust from the community and it seems that could take a while.
I tried to withdraw all my LBC about 10 days ago and they said they would have to manually approve it. We're talking like $50 total. I created a ticket and asked four days later why they still hadn't approved the transaction and there's still no response.
@erichinuri Yea unfortunately you're not the only one, many people have had tickets open for weeks or even months which was why I didn't even bother creating one.

FYI @joelaldrich I noticed that during the past few weeks, despite Poloniex keeping the Steem funds locked, there are some days where they are not locked. Seems they are trying to limit how much Steem people deposit/withdraw, maybe they only experience problems when too many people deposit/withdraw at the same time. I suggest you login every day to check if it changes.
poloniex is shit, everyone has had bad experiences with them. I currently have been waiting 10 days to get a reply for my support ticket about my account getting hacked. It is currently frozen and I haven't lost any money yet, I hope. Never using them again
Yea I've heard countless stories like yours, it's really sickening. Were you using 2FA?
I have been lucky with poloniex so far but have mostly stopped using them. The only thing that seems to get them to respond lately is the threat of legal action (as long as you mention it in the correct tone). This may be a safety feature however, it's better for them to disable withdraws and for your withdrawal to go through eventually than having a broken system that loses your withdrawal.
Possibly. What do you think about their claim that it's a problem with the Steem team, any merit to that?
