How Bitcoin and Ethereum fans should handle the rise of Steem

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Steem the cryptocurrency is now #3 on the coinmarketcap list and in theory it could (temporarily) overtake Ethereum. It is great to have another major player in the ecosystem and in the long run this helps Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you are a BTC or ETH fan you should be ready to handle/welcome Steem fans. Check out Steemit.com and come up with some constructive criticism. Stay calm and if you like the site do not enter the realm of irrational exuberance. Help Steem fans maintain a level of healthy skepticism and guide them away from getting caught up on any manias that may arise. A giant irrational pump of the Steem price followed by a huge price drop is not going to help anyone and could turn newbies away from cryptos. ETH and BTC fans should not look down upon Steem, Steemit, and Steem fans just because it appeals to the masses. Crypto-snobery is not cool. Cryptocurrency needs an easy on-ramp to enter and Steemit may just be the gateway for the masses. Any site/coin that may bring about mainstream cryptocurrency adoption should at least be appreciated by fans of the two top coins.
