If you're looking to get from FIAT -> STEEM, that's always a challenge and right now you're just going to have to use coinbase, gemini, etc. to get some BTC to exchange for Steem. Unfortunately, I doubt this is something Steemit, inc. wants to, or will solve.
One thing I will say, if you're new, keep good track of all of your transactions. It'll make taxes much easier to figure out.
