New in Steemit? Not a single STEEM investment but still wanna succeed?
Then mark my words very well!
There are few things to have in consideration, I'd like to separate them in three parts, each one of them is equally important, so try to take them all in consideration.
1. Be Clever, Be Unique.
How many of you relate Instagram to badly done food pictures? Or Steemit with any crapy content and link that leads to other author's publication just for making few dollars here in steemit thanks to these equally crappy curators' vote?
This is something that been always popular here around. But if you see their life here in Steemit (I mean these accounts that do such things) don't last for too long.
But if you keep fresh in your content and you put on it a little bit of effort to make it look decent and interesting, I assure you that it won't pass unnoticed (if you follow the other two advices of course).
And by fresh I mean to not repeat the same content once and over and over again and always came out with something interesting, which leads us to the next point...
2. Give Something Interesting Away... Give Before Thinking About Taking
I would also call this the rule of "Don't ask, Propose instead".
Imagine you are a millionaire and you have a lot of resources to help others and make them go far. Maaaany of them will ask you for help, one after the another. If you would give them all even some tip, you would probably be broke in few weeks.
Not to say that nothing should be for free in the human kingdom.
So what to do to be special and show them you are different to the rest and you really deserve their help.
Simple: Be different.
In my case I always tried and I keep trying to be different in such a way that I want to get far with the quality of my art, and open the doors of my knowledge in art to everyone who needs it. I am killing two birds at once, giving something away instead asking for anything and keeping fresh and original with my content and skills.
So when you work on yourself, there is no need to steal from anybody in order to be interesting (or popular)
and you will always have new material to share with others. Your experiences, your way of thinking, self-critiques that you can apply to others or group of people, etc.
3. Most important of all: You can't do it alone.
There was a REAAALLY talented artist that started at the same time than me, a year and few months ago. He started posting amazing pieces of traditional art and it was by far better than what i used to do. So how is it possible that he faded away without making any earning from this and I am still here?
See, Steemit is a Comunity. The only way you get to others is by participation. Don't be shy and talk to others,
answer comments, reward to those that participate at most on your posts. They are feeding your activity and giving you good stats.
Try to approach to those who have more influence than you, but not in order to ask them for money, help or whatever. A good advice is more worthy than money and these people would love to share their experience and tips away. Why? Because they are human animals too! We are all social animals and we LOVE to share.
But we don't like to share THINGS, because even if we are social animals, we are very territorial creatures.
So keep this in your mind from a biological point of view: Humans love to share words, experiences, knowledge (as long as it doesn't mean any material loss... such as their bank account password).
Conclusion
Next time you got an opportunity to talk with a whale or a dolphin, think about what you can give instead what you can take
If the comments in a post is your thing, then go with a "hey buddy, I admire your work... do you think you would find a moment to check my stuff out? Because I would really love your advice! Thanks!"
I assure you this will be at least one upvote on your stuff on 90% of the cases.
Thanks a lot for your support and I see you in the next one!
(All the images are my own creation and so I own the rights of them)
I always try to listen to the ideas of my fellow followers to improve my posts and to give something back to the community... therefor: What would you like the next posts to be about? What should I talk about? What kind of painting? Would you like some tutorials about arts, about cooking? Maybe some fresh gaming broadcast? I would love to know!
Bye!
Your advice is good. Your paintings are good too. I wish I could opt to follow you, but examining your stats, you don't interact a lot and you only follow 64 people. This doesn't gel with the main gist of your advice i.e. interacting and being part of a community .. as a short task, would you explain the idiom, 'practice what you preach' - if you have the time or inclination to do so, of course
I agree with your words and I would like to add a tiny disclaimer in order to explain my self about that... See, I am a concept designer, and luckily or not I worked already for Warner Brothers, The Mill, Nether Realm, etc. Achieving this point in arts doesn't come easily and let me explain what I mean by this:
I don't play video-games, most of times I just don't go out because the amount of work I have and if I don't have work I just stay practicing at home to get a little bit further in the quality of my work. I don't open Facebook's feed because I don't want to lose those five minutes, I stopped using instagram because I couldn't avoid check the feed. And here in Steemit the problematic is kinda the same for me: I like to make content, and I always try to keep it fresh. Every time someone asks me about an advice or a review of their artworks or project I give my support. Not to say, I keep my contact with most of steemians through other applications such as Discord and other chats. But honestly I do nothing related to curation.
As a last point I express my support to the community mainly related to arts, you will see that most of my fellow steemians are artists that are looking for advices and a way to get better on their works, because this is what I know about the most.
Atm I gotta go but I saw your other comment on another post, I will reply to it as soon as I'll be back, thanks for your dedication and your critique to my person. It helps me to get better as a human and as a steemian =)
I concede to your opinion and explanation. Of course, we are all in different circumstances. At the moment I am on my first day of actual winter vacation - the past two weeks I have enjoyed a bit more time to curate than usual, as I was preparing lessons for the coming semester (I teach). So, our free time does fluctuate a lot - and I understand what you say completely. I don't use many of the sites for the very same reasons.
Please accept my regrets for sounding a judgemental. I had read another post in which you lamented people not upvoting etc. The complete picture is that there are far far far too many people abusing the system, trolling for follows, leaving silly comments and doing as you say, not even upvoting your post. Such comments also do so much to waste our valuable time and annoy us, don't they? We are just human afterall.
I enjoy your drawings and so I will follow for the enjoyment of it. I have a few friends in mind who enjoy using the GIMP in wonderful was too. Perhaps they will find interest and have the skill to interact with your material more than myself.
Thanks for your genuine reply too. It has done much to encourage me in thinking that there are actually humans and we do outnumber the bots, scammers, spammers, etc. Take care and may the force of your God be with you.
Thanksv@trumanity! I honestly love your dedication to these replies, this is the why i happily upvote them!
I think that inwas very angry with those people who abuse from the system and take a cut of 20% or more from the reward pool. I must apologize with people to be honest. It wasn t because of them.
No need to apologyze, although i would like to apologyze for my reply before since it was very selfish, but honest non the last. It may or not help, but i also have my SP delegated, so my influence here eoesn t really die with me =)
Great advice, as always.
I can definitely relate to the last part about not doing it alone. For a while, I was trying to use vote buying services to keep my posts visible on the "hot" feed longer. However, I found better success in just finding similar works to my own, or posts that I just liked, and interacting with the community via commenting. I'm not killin' it, or anything, but the profit margin is about the same as when I was using voting services. The votes, however, are way more fulfilling when you don't ask or pay for them. It's also starting to lead to ongoing interaction with some of my followers which helps motivate me to keep going.
Again, you always give great advice and I hope your followers and newer Steemians take it to heart. Thank you again!
I am really happy that you discovered this new way for yourself =)
It is the best when you simply listen and give something to the community, feels awesome and gives something back to you, so I think it is absolutely a win-win situation!
I am willing to see yourself developing further more ;)
You always seem to be posting good advice right when I need to see it! Thanks! My most recent post I spent a lot of time on. It is an interactive story where people in the comments choose where we go next. I think due to bad timing it was not really seen by many and the interaction I was hoping for didn't pan out. I will keep trying though!
You made point here, it's almost becoming embarrassing to see so many please, mr help, nice etc..Maybe those other networks made it like something normal, short and meaningless staff..Gaining followers..
Also you are right about some other people here with good art but no communication. Sometimes I feel like stupid writing someone something honest or review of work..and than zipp..nada.. ok, I gues some people also have language problem..Not all of residents here have great skill of english ( count me in) but saying nothing..well..
This has to be resteemed for sure :)
The best of all is when they call you "sir", I totally love it.
And yeah, communication is the key... this is a social platform, we all gotta get used to it! Sometimes I just can't manage to answer all the posts, but I always try to do it. And it s regardless to the language, you can just use google translator and do your best :P
I think you also made a great point with the following argument:
Those other platforms completely killed the idea of community, making them simple shallow and without care or depth. It sounds like they are more like a fastfood chain of social market.
You are right with fast food chain, more it's like becoming food chain..
To be honest, never was good at writing, meaning writing about my art, but somehow I feel liberated here. Now writing is going more easily and leaving comments freely to others..This place is like therapy place for introverts :)
You know, I love your every post. Every time I check your post, it gives me more knowledge on how to improve myself here in this platform. It helps me to stay longer here and to encourage me to self examine on what I can give to others.. This time I will in deep thinking on how to be unique and different here. I have to know more myself to do that. I hope I can also give unique content in the future :) thanks again for this.
I bet you will! It is all about making a deep introspection and discover what is what you really want to give and how you want to be recognized by others =)
I put my faith on you !
Hey thanks for the advice fellow steemian. I have been looking for info about this place all night and your one of the few to give good information. Thanks
Welcome on board @midnightshade! =)
very well said ! i believe some ppl expect to get the earning without a doing thats their problem and y friend i used to have always said " u cant get it finished when u dont go for thr first step" which is pretty much true
great post man, I do share the save point of view, you should contribute and be genuine and original. it is not only about getting money in the easiest way possible. it is about creating value and share it with others.
Pretty much! This is why we gotta always take care of our content and try to always give the best!
I like your art and the way you express your thoughts.
I think being consistent in making content is very important. If people love your posts, they will often come and check it out where there is new one. Now I also try to post on a consistent basis.
Thank you @anritco for sharing this! See you around!
I really like your posts
I do not know if I can be different but I try to be original.
I use my own art. I love and share aesthetic visuals and ideas.
it still seems very hard to be popular :)
maybe I'll discover one day!
thanks for your nice narration and suggestions
It is mostly about keeping in the race, you will slowly get more and more people with you =)
I just checked your steemit blog and realized that you don't have introduction post. In order to catch the attention of others you can show yourself with a sign wrote with your username and the date of the post. And in tags you put as first "introduceyourself". This way you will show to the community that you are verified user... for instance this is the only reason I am not giving you an upvote right now =)
@anritco I now have the promotion spelling!
I listened to your word :)
maybe I won the upvote? :))
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@artizm/who-am-i
indeed, I think you did pretty well, keep doing this great! =))
You actually can't do it alone. Why? Because steemit is a huge community and when you want something from the community, you have to give back.
I always try to provide value before asking for value, I think it's been working fine for me. Thank you for sharing these points, I really hope they will help the people who just got into steemit. Cheers!
Then if you do it, you are going through the right path ;)
good history
Hey buddy, I admire your work... do you think you would find a moment to check my stuff out? Because I would really love your advice! Thanks!😋
P.S. Please tell me how to align text in the center?

I am brand new to Steemit, and I thank you for your advice. I have ideas on what kind of content I would like to share, but right now I'm working within the constraints of the free time I have allotted to me. Your art work is truly amazing! I am in awe at your ability to keep humility intact while possessing such talent.
