Introducing MINNOW MENTOR - A new FREE initiative to help minnows earn more

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

EDIT: Please see the updated post here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anarcotech/minnow-mentor-free-support-service-to-help-minnows-grow

minnowmentor.jpg

Are you a minnow who is finding it challenging to get your hard work recognised (and more importantly earning through upvotes)? Then this post is just for you!

In every area of business, mentors and coaches are a great idea. It's always useful having someone coming in from the outside to offer their advice and support to get you through.

I'm a member of the #promo-uk team, and we actively go out onto the streets and encourage new people to join Steemit. We area also putting together other initiatives, including an interest free Steem loaning system to help people start their own local promotional group, as well as arranging meet-ups, video conferences and more.

But every day I see minnows on here clearly frustrated that something they have spent a great deal of time and energy on has passed everyone by, and if they're lucky they've made anything at all on their posts.

nothing made.jpg
fed up of seeing this at the bottom of your posts?

One thing about the Steemit community is that there are loads of people on here who want to help you out. People like my friend @stephenkendal, the de-facto batman of the #promo-uk team, and Matt @starkerz, another seriously interesting Steemian, and of course great guys like @jerrybanfield, @dollarvigilante and others who make awesome videos about Steemit, and many others who just want to help everyone out and give great information.

BUT SOMETHING IS MISSING

One thing that is missing is a mentoring programme though, so I am announcing one right now. I have spent a lot of time helping newbie minnows out, and critiquing their work, and giving them positive feedback and support. I often see poorly formatted posts, or ones which just aren't going to catch anyones attention. People who have followed my advice tend to start to see their payouts improving, and they tend to start enjoying the experience much more too (as well as learning some really interesting stuff).

There's lots to Steemit. It's a massive ecosystem. And it takes time to learn. Let MINNOW MENTOR assist you in learning.

HOW MUCH IS IT

And what do I expect for doing this? Absolutely NOTHING. I'm not asking you to send me Steem or SBD or anything else. I just believe that at this point in the development of Steemit there are mutual benefits to ensuring that minnows become dolphins (and hopefully whales) and even the newbies have a chance of making it here.

LOADS OF IDEAS FOR GROWING MINNOWS

When I've determined that there is a desire amongst minnows for support, then I will be announcing some exciting projects which will help all my minnows grow. These are still being worked on, so not going to say too much for now.

WANT TO BE MENTORED?

If you think you'd like to be mentored, please leave a comment below. It would help others if you could also Resteem this article, as there will be others out there who would probably want to be part of this community too. The more we get, the quicker we can get to the more advanced stuff which is in place now.

COULD YOU BE A MENTOR TOO?

I am part of a great team with #promo-uk and I'm sure there will be some of those guys who would readily give some of their time. I cannot promise that I can support everyone, because if hundreds of people want me to mentor them, then I may not have any time to do anything else, but a great team of knowledgable mentors can certainly do that. If you think that you have something to give too, please also let me know.

Look out for @minnowmentor, coming soon!

With lots of interesting advice, articles, videos, tutorials and support from people who've been exactly where you have been and know what it feels like. It's coming, and it's going to make a HUGE difference to people who get involved with it.

Please do spread it around your followers, let them know. We are all here to have fun, succeed and grow, and one of the great things about this platform is that altruism works for everyone. We all benefit.

Remember, if you want to participate in any way, leave a comment below, and ideally resteem this so others can see it too. Before you know it we will have a great minnow mentor programme running! <.h3>

Hey @anarcotech thanks for starting something like this. I see all these "we help minnows" projects, but they all just want you to send them crypto.

I would LOVE to be a part of this in any way I can, hopefully to become a mentor eventually myself.

I write and post only original articles and yes I also feel frustrated that it seems I don't get much love, but I see people just reposting others crap and get tons of votes.

Hi @cryptostache. Thats great if you can help. Please do join me in the discord channel. https://discord.gg/KHnZNf9. Also see the top of this post for the link to the latest information about it.

Hi @Cryptostache.
So had a look at your blog, and here's a few thoughts. First what I love. You've got a nice cover pic, a cool avatar, and an interesting bit of peacocking...the stache. You seem to be blogging pretty regularly, normally once a day give or take, and you're stuff is original. I do like when you have related your bitconnect journey, but I'd like to know more....make it even more regular. @trevonjb does his coin counts. Maybe something similar?

You've ovbiously put some investment into your SP, and this is exactly the right thing to do. Perhaps even consider using @minnowbooster to have a temporary power up too.

So, I think the stretch Im going to give is this. Your ability to peacock your stache is underused. I had to scroll right back to the beginning of your blog to see it. If you notice the people who are doing really well on Steemit, we know what they look like. Their image is part of their brand. The stache is so cool (and I really think it's cool) that I would really make this part of your brand too, not just the name. Let us see the stachaction!

Hey @anarcotech, you make some good points here!

Originally I did want to also do the bitconnect thing every day but I felt like it might get a bit stale so i decided to update on it 1 time a week and post screen shots of what I did that week. You think every day update on this is not too much?

I have not used any of those services yet, but yes I did invest a bit in SP. May do some more in the future depending.

Hahah, yes I try to flaunt the stache as much as I can! I am eventually going to get into doing videos here so I think that will help with the stache visibility. Any suggestions you have beyond that to get it out there more?

thanks for checking out my stuff!

I think give the stache a real personality. @trevonjb completely peacocks himself with his brilliant caricatures and larger than life personality. He's a great example of someone who puts it out there on Steemit. Make the stache the centrepiece for what you say.

If you think you've got positive stuff to offer the community about anything, whether bitconnect or whatever, post it. Someone may find it useful. Yes, don't just post for the sake of it, make your posts interesting and worthwhile. But I'd be interested in following a bitconnect journey as it might be something I'd like to do myself....so showing me how I might feel everyday could be very useful to me.

Thanks for the encouragement! I will take this advice and run with it!

Good man. Thats the spirit.

Pass me any tips you have, I'll store them away in my giant mustache for later use!

@anarcotech
this is a wonderful concept... people like you use innovation to turn things around for the community... this concept has my support... thanks for sharing this

Thanks @kenhudoy.

welcome dear and find time to check my blog posts

welcome dear... find time to check my latest blog posts
thanks

@kenhudoy. I'm curious. You seem to be unbelievably multi-lingual. Posts in korean, english, spanish, and possibly you do German as well????

Your stories are great, especially love the one about the punk who saves the little boy, and ends up years later in front of the little boy who is now the Judge. Brilliant, got me suckered right in. You clearly have some big followers too. @sweetsssj commenting and upvoting you, that's great!

What I find curious is that you resteem a lot, comment like there's no tomorrow, but don't post tons. Of the 5000+ posts you've made, actually only a handful of them are actually posts you have made directly. You've got so many followers, and commented so much, I cant quite work you out. You are an enigma.

I think, like I've said to plenty of others on here that I would like to see who you are. There is no image of you that I can find. Please, satisfy my curiosity.

The stretch for me....let's see who's behind the mask! I hope that's not too presumptious.

thanks and am elated by your kind remarks... however..as you surmised... enigmas do not get seeing until right time... seems you arin Uk as am aout reading and commenting on your posts and will surely meet you in person maybe in Huddersfield...
however for now lets enjoy like you doing the anonymity of steemit... love your symbol ...what does that mean...
I belief in the power of small things... the power of that lone voice...that triggers a ripple in the waters causing waves which in turn can cause a tsunami... i beleif in togetherness.... i belief in you...meaning i belief in steemit and wanna work my way to top... how do i start...by making my bed every morning... dont ask me why if you have not red my latest post and listened to my mentor who is a ormer Navy SEAL... Why do i comment much and post less... well ask Steemit...joined 7 weeks ago and posts are hadly seen by 1% of your followers but all can read and comment to my response and as such, i get to engage with those i love their content as such they may find time also to reach my posts... will increase posting from this week...say 3 weekly and if things improves can post daily.... i got a lot in my tinny winny head to give out which can tickle your fancy...as such keep following and supporting...;)
thanks dear...am also following you
And hey....asper your request... soon dear... very soon...
Finally .... Ti panimaesh parusky? ( Do you understand Russian?)

Not a word. Does it involve vodka?

Nope...I speak Russian language with love...

yes, i am very interested in the mentoring program and also new here.
thanks for coming up with this. am following your right away.

That's great. Ok, watch out for the next Minnow Mentor posts.

@solomonsojay
good one dear... key in to the mentor program and get to know all asap...nice comment and welcome to steemit

I just started a couple of days ago, so I would really like to participate!

Hello @megshealthyworld, that's great news, I will be happy to help.

I noticed that you only have one follower so far. You've resteemed quite a few posts, and you've curated on a few too. I think perhaps a great starting point for you is to know what it is you are interested in with Steemit. From seeing your two posts, which of course isn't a right lot to be getting a good overall picture, it appears that you are interested in health writing, but of course there will be other things too. You haven't done an introduction post yet. This is fine, and I'd be tempted to hang on until you know what you are going to talk about. There is also a bit of an etiquette for making intro posts, which you may or may not know about. In a few days time I will be releasing a video on this very topic, which should help you get some followers and interest. Two days is not much, and theres plenty of time, so hang fire and lets see how well you get on!

No, I wasn't aware of the intro post etiquette, so I will wait for the video and go from there! Thank you!

wow

I thought so too!

This sounds interesting!

I think its going to be very interesting!

This post has received a 0.52 % upvote from @drotto thanks to: @banjo.

Thats very kind @drotto. Thanks for that.

hello! please, check my post
https://steemit.com/art/@prostosun/summer-buterfly-my-artwork-step-by-step

upvoted, follow and resteem

You're art is great. I will take a look at your posts!

Hello @prostosun. Well, having looked at your feed, I'm quite impressed. You've got a lot of posts, you clearly comment on others posts, you are consistent in what you blog about, and you are posting pretty much daily. So I think in terms of usage, you are doing just great. I think for me what I would encourage is for you to consider your formatting a bit. I found a couple of your posts to be just a little bit crushed together, which is a real shame because your artwork is awesome...I just think it needs to stand out more. And maybe this is about learning a bit of more advanced Markdown to get the formatting looking great. But on the whole, I think you're doing just fine right now, especially for where you are at. One other thing, do check wallets if you are going to use bots like discordia. You could end up just giving away a lot of your SBD and not getting a great deal back in return.

thank you! You are right, I am not very well with formating. I have to learn Markdown, but to be honest, I am very lazy about it, the programs is not my the best))) May be one day I will do that! thanks for your coments, it's very important for me!

Check out some of the online Markdown editors. I don't use them myself, so I cannot give you a good review of each, as I have always just done the markdown on the site (very used to HTML you see) but this may be of interest to you and might help you going forward. Just a thought.

will also check ur post...love to support good art work and artists

Thats Awesome Idea and I'm happy that someone is going for it!

Thanks. It's long overdue, been thinking about it for a while, and ready to get started now. Wait for the next posts and see how it's going to work.

Here goes nothing. I would like to be mentored.

While I enjoy what I already have in here, especially the people I have met, I would like to see if I could get better at this. Plus I can bring some bread to a meetup in London :)

Ok, @breadcentric. consider yourself mentored. I will be looking at your posts and will be commenting on them.

Would love to try your bread. Ok, lots to talk about with you. You have some interesting things you are blogging about. Minecraft Mods, food and a bit of colour creativity. Not bad for someone so new. Two major things missing. Firstly you really need an avatar. I think not having one really puts people off wanting to upvote you. Secondly, you haven't done an introductory post yet. Now, again as I said to @megshealthyworld above, I'd hang on, because theres a few things to get right about it before you do one. Your introductory post should be something that's going to get help you get LOADS of followers, because they're interested in you.

Also, with you being into bread and minecraft, you might find that this is a bit of a niche, and could easily find some natural supporters using whalebot. I will be explaining about this in an upcoming video and tutorial.

For now, keep on posting, daily, and don't forget to engage with anyone who comments on your posts!

Thanks. I have updated my profile.

I have tagged my first post as introductory, not sure if this counts or blocks a chance to do it once again.

Writing everyday will be a challenge. For now I'm on holiday so I manage to do something each day, but it's already difficult.

I think I would be tempted to do another introductory post at some point soon. The intro posts video is one that I want to do next, however im moving house this week so its going to be next week when I get round to doing it and releasing it. In the meantime, here is a great post from @steemship which will give you everything you want to know about doing a great intro post. https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemship/take-two-re-doing-your-introductory-post-the-right-way

This is such a great idea and you are right. Steemit has loads of great advice blogs but we do need a dedicated place to support minnows with practical tips.
You got my 100% support and upvote. Sharing this everywhere.

Thanks @molometer. I hope to be able to bring a great deal of support to lots of people

Hi @anarcotech, great idea and I think much needed. I have seen mentoring in action in online games like Entropia and it is very useful.

Even though I have only been here a couple of months I have learnt enough to have been helping new players just coming through the door.

Happy to help with mentoring as needed.

Are you going to have a Discord channel for this?

Hi @pennsif. Yes, I quit agree, it can make a big difference. Well, watch this space re mentoring, and I think we are going to have a discord channel dedicated to it, however to begin with we are going to be going directly to peoples posts and mentoring from within. There may also be a delegation system running soon too.

Discord channel is now set up. Find link here: https://discord.gg/KHnZNf9

Sounds good, I'm always looking to learn more about steemit.

Brilliant. That's exactly the spirit @audax

So I think on the basis that you have only joined in the last few days that you have the potential to do quite well here. I think finding your niche, maybe as a historian, perhaps something else, will give you a little edge. You've clearly worked out some of the slightly more intricate things, such as updating your avatar and cover pic. Good for you. Now I think it's time to work on the followers, and getting a little trail of followers.

I think for you we are going to work on how you get your posts really visible, and making me want to read them because they're too interesting NOT to be read.

Open to new success tips. I cant wait to have your support.

Looking forward to it too. Watch for the next Minnow Mentor post where I will be outlining exactly how it will work.

Would you please check my posts also? It is unfairly lost in the feed in my opinion. I've just launched nice contest for people who like my art. In Instagram for example I see more than 50 people involved in my contest but here only 4 or 5 :) I would draw a portrait avatar for winner.

Hi Fil. Well, less than 25 days here, and already you seem to have got your head around a lot of different areas. I think the main thing for me is followers. You are following much more than you are followed, and thats surprising, especially considering the amazing artwork you are doing. Perhaps it's time to start thinking about alternative places where the other artists live? Maybe head over to STEEM CHAT and find people who are doing similar things. I love the idea of offering a portrait avatar for a contest winner, but unfortunately, I think it's unlikely that you will be able to host much of a contest because you just don't have the visibility yet. But don't be disheartened, it will come, and I think you're going to do really well on this platform. Stay with it, we can get deeper into the mentoring.

Hi @dunsky. Of course I will. watch for the next posts, and I will give you direct comments and support. In terms of posts being lost too quickly, this is something that a lot of people are concerned about, and I suspect it will start to be the focus of devs in the not too distant future.

yes i will like to join the mentorship programme

Ok @eddyova. Consider yourself on it. Watch out for the next minnow mentor post to find out exactly how it's going to work.

@eddyova. You are the king of resteeming. You also have lots of followers, and lots of people following you. So I'm trying to figure out why you aren't earning well. And I think it's a few things. Firstly, you really need an avatar. Something, ANYTHING will do. Secondly you are a man of few words in your comments. I really encourage you to engage, spend the time with people, let them know that you've really read and understood their post. But I'd like to get the sense that I'm seeing an old friend when I see your name come up, and because I don't know a lot about you, and its hard to find, I'm struggling to get it. So, I think my first advice to you is be more personable...let folks really see who you are.

thank you very much @anarcotech for your time. i have try to upload my profile picture url,but what will come up is a kind of white.i will upload now and keep it for some time for you to see what am talking about.secondly you are very correct in regards to my comment.i will work on that.i really appreciate .please i will need a feedback.thanks

finally got an avatar of my family.i have been doing it in a wrong way.thanks alot man for showing interest in me

Brilliant. Well done you. @minnowmentor will be starting from 28th august. The newest post is now out, giving more info about it: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anarcotech/minnow-mentor-free-support-service-to-help-minnows-grow

A really great idea 😊 Upvoted and Resteemed
I'm interested

Thanks @saffisara. I will take a look at your feed and give initial thoughts shortly.

Thank you very much 😊 no rush. Have a great night

Hi @saffisara. Ok, so you are the meme-queen for sure. It seems to me that you use Steemit a little bit like some people use Facebook... you post a HUGE amount of pictures. I think there will be a fair amount of people who like that, but I don't know if it will bring you enormous rewards. You are clearly a massively bubbly person with the personality of fun, and a great eye for a shot. I'd be tempted to use that and give us a bit more of who YOU really are. You're cover picture is absolutely brilliant, so very you, but I get the sense that theres a bit of the slightly deeper you missing. This may be deliberate, and that's cool if it is.

I think I'd like to see more of what you have to say. Especially the inspiring stuff you post as memes, maybe bring a little more of the personal to it. To say you've only been here a couple of months you're clearly not doing badly, and I hope you bring even more of your joy and light and laughter to the site. Maybe bring us some videos of you and your antics.

Ask yourself this, what do you want the community to picture in their minds when they see your name in the feed? Consider how that can become your thing. I hope this helps.

Wow that was a lot of amazing stuff in one comment 😊 I was blown away by what you managed to get from my posts.like you could read me 😕busted
LOL I have tried to learn as much as I can by advices from amazing people and listening to my heart.
I just recently started making my site more personal, I always engage with people commenting and trying to find out what they like etc.
Your advice really helps me a lot.
I use meme in a way to express my feelings and some pictures to. But like you said mabye use pictures but write a little more about how I feel and in my own words explaining the pictures and feelings 😊 you learn every day and can always improve and evolve 👍
So glad to hear that you like my site and posts and the message sort of.. Lol
Means a lot. Thank you for sharing those great ideas and for your kind words. You are amazing 😉
I guess we all have a deeper us that just isn't as easy to share always.

I know. And thanks for the comment back. As a mentor I can only give my opinion and some best practice guides, and I'm not always right. I just reckon that there's a whole lot more to you that the Steemit world would love to see, (including me) and I think it should SHINE!!!

Thank you so much for your guidance, means a lot and I hope I can live up to that, I really want to do my best and give as much as I can of myself etc 😊 so touched by your words.
Have a great night and take care 💕

Great idea, looking forward to any tips and trick that can help me advance!

Cool. Well, this initiative is hopefully going to begin from 28th august properly. Newest post is now out, giving more info about it: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anarcotech/minnow-mentor-free-support-service-to-help-minnows-grow

Absolutely. Im a newbie and feeling frustrated as im not a tech person. This sounds awesome!! Count me in.

Brill @jnjmarketing. Please see the comments above to find the latest info about it.

Hi, I am always open to any suggestions, critiques, and advice you might have to make my posts more visible. I have done ok with followers but my posts don't seem to be doing good. Thanks so much for this service! Very helpful

Hi @lindabasilick, good to hear that. Please do follow the link here to find out more about where we are at with it: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anarcotech/minnow-mentor-free-support-service-to-help-minnows-grow

Thank you. I am watching this with great interest.

Hi, I have found this post interesting, I have been on steemit for over a week now and I am still finding my feet on here. I would be interested to know more. I think this is a great thing for you to do. and every little bit of help in here helps.

Hey @artonmysleeve. It does take a while here to figure it all out. I'm glad to help. Please follow the links to the latest post to find out more about what @minnowmentor is going to do.

Thank you for this brilliant gesture-helping us minnows stay afloat. I greatly look forward to your support. Upvoting and resteeming. Go team!

You're welcome @cabelindsay. Hope to help loads of people. The more we support each other, the quicker we all grow together.

Right on! In fact, "growing together" is a mantra we highly embrace in family. It's an expansive intention.

Sounds like you have a great family!

I am very intrigued by this. I'm a newbie and trying to get the hang of this. I'm discouraged because I have put out a couple articles that I feel have really good content and just found out they are only good for 7 days.

I've learned to slow my roll with the voting and try to keep my power above 90%. I was like an eight-armed octopus with my voting when I showed up. Assuming upvotes were the same as "likes" on other forums.

Well, your content lasts forever, but payments end after 7 days. It can be disheartening and frustrating when your brilliant work gets little reward (especially when you see some folks earning tons for doing very little) but please do stick with it, and you will see the rewards start to come!

Great idea! Resteeming this!

Thanks @anavictoriakong. Please also resteem the latest post about the project too...lets see if we can get some whales interested in it.

Thanks @anarcotech - would be great to be a part of your mentoring program. Great work you are doing with the UK Promo team - Followed, Upvoted and resteemed

Thanks @edenmichelle. The #promo-uk guys are just such a cool bunch, and they all genuinely want to support and help the platform grow.

Yes, I can see that @anarcotech - Well done #promo-uk guys - and well done @starkerz for bringing us here

Well they're doing a great job

Hola! I am very interested to be mentored by you. I wanna learn more. Like you, I actively go out onto the streets and encourage new people to join Steemit. I have a video of that here: https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@pinaynomad/eab1--2017-08-13--introducing-steemit-to-strangers
Even if I'm not from UK you will still help a minnow like me ayt? :-)

Hi @pinaynomad. Well what can I say? Frankly I think you are doing great. You post just about every day, your posts are great, they really bring out different aspects of you, and are pretty varied without being all over the place. You're clearly earning well from them, particularly at the level you are at. I thought the one about getting the tum was great (maybe you should aim one at the guys too, because I've got a bit to loose!). You clearly curate well and respond to your comments, which is great.

So, stretches for me to give you..... Lets see more of you....show us you! Make it even more personal if you can. Because you've got something that can really help people out (fitness, health etc), make yourself the brand as well as just giving the info. Show us what you got!

Maybe a great cover picture too would help. I like the way you shamelessly plugged your work. Its great. Maybe take a bit every couple of days of your work and blog on them...every time you get a few new really cool logos or designs, why not use them.... If you can earn a fiver on fiverr, but you're making ten bucks just for sharing them on Steemit, there might be something you can do here....Have you considered GIVING AWAY some of your work for free.... you'll get upvotes, and these could be more lucrative. It's worth thinking about.

People who are altruistic here on Steemit do very well. Not saying you should give everything away, just some useful teasers that people might really like. You're clearly very good with Photoshop, and I think I'm considering hiring you myself to go a @minnowmentor logo (cos I'm shit at design really).

Think about your skills and talents...how can they benefit the community even further? That's my honest advice, but I think overall you're doing great and I reckon by the time it goes mainstream, you will be a big hitter than everyone will want to follow.

@anarcotech Thanks so much for the detailed advice. The truth is, I really need to create a brand. I'm working with few people who will make my travel and fitness blog more visible on Google. Writing is my passion. Designing is second. You're helping a lot of people here. Thanks so much for being a great advisor. I really appreciate it. :-)

meep

I don't know if you're a bot or a kid who has nothing to do but type "meep".

meep

It takes all sorts! Oh well....

Course I will. Im here to help anyone. This is what Steemit is all about. I will take a look over the weekend, as tonight is beer-o-clock!

haha! I hope you had a great time drinking beer with your buddies. :-)
it's beer-o-clock here too in the Philippines, Saturday night. :-)

Am I right that it is not another bot but actual people? If so then it's good.

Please check what am I doing wrong.

It's like that old saying give man a fish or teach him how to catch fish.

Yes I'm a real person. I've got hair, fingernails and even my own nipples. How many bots can say that? Hm. Not many, unless it's the sort of Bot made by Elon Musk to beat the world Chess champion or something....and even then.... Yes, the goal of minnow mentor is for real people to curate specifically on peoples posts and help them grow.

Hi @anarcotech! This idea is so great, thank you! Could you take a look at my page too?
I have been making only travel posts, but I also plan to add posts about image post-processing; food\cooking\trying new things, and probably about making videos for selling on stock footage websites. Do you think it's good to try these new themes?
Also starting from the yesterday post I will be using a distinctive thumbnail pic for the preview with that title design...

Hi @anna-redhead. So basically for someone who's only been here for a month, you are doing remarkably well at getting good quality posts out there. Your cover page is brilliant, lovely design. Your shots are superb, and your posts are well formatted and interesting. I noticed that you do better on the travel tag, as opposed to photography, so you might want to consider that a little...perhaps the sort of people who are following travel are more likely to enjoy your blogs. I'd also consider making it a little more accessible in terms of helping people get to where you are... Lets face it, who doesnt want a fabulous life of digital nomaddery, two beautiful people enjoying the best life has to offer? Right!!! So, why not put in some tips of how to get to doing it? Encourage people. Make your Steemit journey something to share! I think you're going to do well here, and I'd encourage you to put your earnings into Steem Power for now, and get your upvotes up. You're doing great, and I think you'll be rivalling @sweetsssj before you know it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my blog and your advice, @anarcotech! Truth be told my latest posts had some success thanks (big thanks!) to help and mentoring of @lucky.digger who found me on steemit.. somehow :D
Helping people get to where we are sounds interesting! I think I could share my experience with video footage selling first... Thanks again, I will do my best aand hope it works! 😁

Hi @anarcotech, I just followed your advice and made a post about how to sell stock footage like we do, hope it's good 😊 thanks again 😊

Yes, a great post. So two slightly more in depth comments. Firstly, I'd drive the WHY at the beginning. Ask it as a question "would you like your camera to make you money whilst you sleep" or something like that. It will really drive curiosity. If there is anything I've learned from observing clickbait (and being a psychologist specialising in linguistics and social behavioural engineering) its that if a person mentally answers the question as "YES" internally, they are way more likely to click on it. Getting an upvote and curation always begins with the click.

Secondly, you threw me in the post with a technical aspect which you didn't explain. I've heard of whitebalance but I have no idea what it is or how to use/do/fix/work with it. So there's your next post maybe? Teach photo-dummies like me how to use a camera. Now THAT would get me following!!! You see how it works? You have so much in terms of skills that you can offer, so slowly drip it out to people, make them want it...make them care about your posts as you care about crafting them. Blogging is a great deal about information and learning. Humans love to learn. so help us. Show me where I'm going wrong as a completely amateur photographer/filmmaker and let me eat out of your hand as I upvote you, because you feel like my friend when you do!

You're clearly keen to grow. So lets grow!

Great advice once again! :D Thank you so much! Would really like to enter your mentoring programme! :)
Now I need to think how to make a post about white balance interesting :D
btw, can your camera shoot in Raw format?

I have absolutely no idea. And there's another topic for you. It's a canon EOS 550d if thats any help.

Awesome! I have the same camera! :D

Very interested, I will be following. Thanks!

Please do. There's room for many more on the minnow boat.

@anarcotech

This is exactly what us beginners on the platform needs. I came to Steemit from wordpress because, although I gained a following and have a steady number of Daily Active Users, I get no interaction with my readers.

They have no incentive to comment on posts, or delve into a discussion about whatever topic I've brought to the table. So I came to Steem hoping things would be different here, but I haven't made any progress.

Right now I'm just posting the things I've written for my site in the past year, but today I'm going to create a post on the next era of Content Creation. Hopefully, you can look at it and give me some pointers?

Will do @brosh. Please bear with me because along with loads of people who want support at the moment, we are setting the whole project up, AND i'm moving house this week too, so if I don't get round to you straight away, please excuse me.

BTW, the Newest post is now out, giving more info about it: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anarcotech/minnow-mentor-free-support-service-to-help-minnows-grow

That is a great idea. I am just getting started on here and already I have made a grave error and lost my password for my initial account when my battery on my computer died. That being said, I have been freelancing for 12 years or so and I find that it is easy enough for me to slowly figure things out. I have been lucky that the transition is smooth. so far I have got 14 others to steem with me and we have our own little group. I was suprised to find out that there isn't really a mentoring program. When I get a handle on here better it is something that I would definitely like to be doing. Love the idea and if anyone has time, I could use a bit of direction. :) I know how busy it can be though. I have people asking me how to do things all the time and I am just learning as well!

Good for you @art.gaming.magic - Please have a look at the latest post about how the project will work: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anarcotech/minnow-mentor-free-support-service-to-help-minnows-grow

Hey I'm quite curious about your project and would like to participate, but due to your #promo-uk tag I beliebte you only mentor english posts don't you?

Due to the nice German Community I start writing posts in german.

Hi @chippyofdoom. Happy to mentor from anywhere in the world, but I only speak English. I'm sure we may get some mentors with other languages too, and I really hope so. I think @minnowmentor could be a massive part of the steemit platform.

I absolutely love the idea. I am sure there is a lot of new users out there who have great content but they have no way to be heard. In this way, they will have help from some experienced users on Steemit. I just joined 18 days and I had some amazing friends helped around understanding how Steemit works, and helped my posts to be seen, and read. Without them, my start on Steemit would be much harder. This is why this idea is absolutely brilliant.

Thanks @awakentolife. I hope to be able to help plenty of people here. Keep an eye on @minnowmentor, and if you can please resteem its posts. The more who see it the sooner we are going to get investors into the project, and that's good for everyone.
