Curious information of the Olympic games   

Hello friends! We all know that the Olympian games are realized in RIO, but .. do you know these curiosities?


1 - Why the colors of the Olympian flag?


Known practically by all, it is that five rings represent five inhabited continents: America, Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania. Ironically, the idea of the rings arose in 1914 with the intention of representing the union of the continents by means of the olimpismo, year in which the First World war began. The colors of the rings - blue, yellow, black, green and red - represent to all the countries, because in all the flags of the world you can find at least one of these colors.   

2 - Nudes Sports

3 - The First Marathon


In 490 B.C. Athens had a battle against Persian invaders, of which it worked out victorious. They were approximately 40 kilometres that it crossed and added with the geography full of hills, it did that was getting tired. In spite of this it managed coming, with the feet stained with blood to giving the great news, but was the only thing that it managed to do, because it fell down died forthwith. In his honor, in the first modern Olympic Games, in 1896, a career was done by a distance very similar to the crossed one by Filípides, all that in his commemoration. .   

4 - Marathon Distance


The distance of the current marathon was decided to support the dry Queen.

But ... why has the official distance of the Marathon more than 2 kilometres extra? This was because throughout the years, depending on the place where the Olympic Games were realized, the distance was modified, but there came a point in which they decided to make official the distance. This was up to the Olympic Games of London in 1908, because first 38 km were fixed, but it is said that the Prince of Wales, Jorge V, wanted the exit before, in Windsor's Castle because this day was raining and they did not want that the Queen was getting wet. The distance stayed in 42,195 kilometres, which finally was made official.   

5 - Without Shoes


The African athlete first in winning, did it without shoes was not until 1960 that an African athlete gained a golden medal and yes, made it barefooted. Not only it, I win with a wide difference of more than 4 minutes. In an interview, Abebe Bikila, made clear that it was because it wanted that they all knew that his country, Ethiopia, always was obtaining his victories with heroism. In total, it ran for 2 hours, 15 minutes and 16 seconds.     

6 - The first Prizes


The first prizes: Olive tree, silver and air. In the first Games of 1896, the first place was receiving a medal of silver and a crown of olive tree, the second one a medal of bronze, whereas the third place only was obtaining the recognition, but to the house it was going away with the empty hands.   

7-  Medals of ... gold? 


The last medals done completely of gold were delivered 102 years ago, for the games of 1912. The medals " of gold " current are done in 92,5 % of silver and the rest - approximately 6 grams - are a covering of pure gold. This makes them almost identical to the medal of silver, except for the golden coverage. Finally, the medal of bronze is really of this material ensued from the alloy of copper and tin, 90 % and 10 %, respectively. His approximate value is near to 4 dollars.   

8 - Doping


The first suspension for doping Was in the Olympic Games of Mexico in 1968 and there was applied the Swedish Penta athlete , Hans-Gunnar Liljenwall, who after gaining the third place in the hard test, had to return the medal for the accusation of doping. 9 - Old and Young


The competitors younger and older of the history, the more young was in 1896, Dimitrios Loundras, with 10 years was positioned in the third place in gymnastics and with a difference of 62 years, the oldest player was the Swedish shooter, Oscar Swahn, who with 72 years extracted the second place in 1920.  

10 - The Longst Olympiads


The longest Olympiads The Games of London 1908, they lasted from April to October, a total of 187 days, more than 6 months.  

11 - First Olympiad Televised.


Germany Nazi televised for the first time the Olympic Games In 1936 the Olympic Games carried out in Berlin, Germany, during the government of Hitler, who tried to show to the world the kindness of the Aryan race on having received the games. In this opportunity, the games were televised directly, for the first time in the history, though only in the capital. It had a total of 150.000 television viewers.
