Steemit feature suggestion: option for a per-post prediction market

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

What would be awesome for a certain category of Steemit posts is a built-in prediction market.

What's a prediction market you make ask? It's the ability to put your money where your mouth (or post) is.

If you think Hillary is going to win the presidency, you can buy Hillary shares; you can buy Trump shares if you think Trump might win. Right now on the prediction market PredictIt, Hillary is trading at 69¢; Trump is at 33¢. Both sides of the market add up to about $1. This could be an added benefit for users who want to participate in markets but who aren't traders or market makers in the traditional sense.

I’m not suggesting a full-blown market like Aurgur or Gnosis; just something that fits into the existing Steemit platform as a variation of the voting system we already have.

BTW, both Aurgur and Gnosis are built on blockchains, so we know this is possible.

Thoughts?

Good idea—thanks.

I like this.
it boosts activity, would be a use for Steem dollars, would create an interesting stat for curators to look at, and would use the escrow system
