This is all crazy, first i am shocked about bitcoin, then steem dollar, but also STEEM is growing! These are some insane and amazing news to everyone on Steemit! I hope and guess most of you are celebrating right now and being happy! The gains are incredible, and this has never happened before. How long will this hype last? How long will the SBD price stay so high?
The highest in 24 hours it went to 16.62 dollars. I really dont underastdn what is going on with crypto world right now? But what i do know is I am happy I am on this train... :)

I saw a 80% spike in 24 hours and pulled the trigger at $5 per SBD. My partner held out 24 and sold at $12. Can't believe it... but then again, yes I can.

So you think steem is likely to go up long-term versus the SBD? I always thought SBD was supposed to be pegged to the USD, so these price movements are surprising the shit out of me, to say the least.

yess it will correct itself sadly, which will happen i guess very soon! i wish i had some SBD as my payouts wont happen for several days! lol
Hi Alla, from what I understood there really isn't a peg mechanism in place for when the SBD gets valued higher than USD, only an upward peg for when SBD is below 1 USD. It will probably correct by Steemians selling their SBD at bittrex for (hopefully) Steem.
What you might expect to happen is that Steem will be converted into Steem Power, adding to the value of Steem :)
Actually there is such a mechanism - witnesses can increase SBD supply with Bias variable. They are not doing it though, at least now.

hahah i think the reason could be more ppl signing up to the platform, and buying the currencies as a late train?
The Banks and Illuminati feels insecure with the growing confidence towards cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin since it bringing down the value of US Dollars. Drastic action need to be taken in order to address the issue. Therefore, in the interest of protecting the bank, Donald Trump made an official announcement that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel in order to reduce the momentum of people attention towards cryptocurrencies. I guess the plan backfired as the people in the crypto space does not react to his statement , then it further bringing down the value of US Dollar. For instance, there is not much hype on his statement in Steemit although it is a hot news in other social media and news channel.
This is just my theory and I might be wrong.

If everyone sells, the supply will drive the price lower.

What is the easiest way to convert the SBD to $$$. I have not gotten that far yet. I do have a Bittrex account. How do you do all that? Thanks Alla.
yes so you transfer SBD to the deposit wallet on bittrex of SBD. Make sure you check memo and eveyrthing is correct, then send it and then trade to whatever currency you want! im sure there is some videos online! i should prob do one!!
That would be great Alla. Yes I had transferred $50 SBD a while back but then I am confused as to how to convert to US$ or transfer???? I have looked at a couple videos but they really don't tell you anything. I am old and need step by step...LOL! I tried the 2factor authentication and messed that up. It's hard to find info on this stuff.
lol yeah that part is easy! but ok you need to use another platform from bitter you can transfer money so that they become dollars, or what you can do is sell your 50 SBD which is now 700 dollars and buy bitcoin!! :) that will grow over the next months!
Alla, you would be proud of me...I think...I hope. I made some advancement and learned today. I successfully set up 2FA, transferred more SBD to Bittrex, bought Bitcoin when SBD at $12.77.. Did I do OK? I hope so. Going to spend more time learning. I still need to figure out how to turn into cash.
SBD -> Bitcoin -> (1. bitpay debit card, 2. buy items online from sites that accept bitcoin then sell on ebay 3. other bitcoin debitcard services or 4. Gift Cards that accept bitcoin) newegg.com also accepts bitcoins. be careful and pay attention because we who use crypto in 2017 are in the same numbers as people who used email in 1994 statistically. hope this comment helps people. :D
Crazy times. I wish I had some SBD sitting there but I don't. Not to worry though, I think STEEM could hit 3 dollars by Christmas. Things are very crazy recently in crypto.

The sudden rise n hype is creating a lull before storm.....or its a storm ?? Question still unanswered and all speculation and calculation are on.
I think this hype of sbd is not good for the community. It shows problems because it was designed to be pegged to usd.
Maybe the problem is low liquidity of sbd, low circulation. But in long term it should come back to 1 usd.
On the other hand I like the pump of steem ☺
