Steemit has done something I never thought possible.
Not even a year ago when I never knew anything about cryptocurrency other then I'd heard of Bitcoin I remember trawling the Internet looking for ways to make money. Sick of my job and basically working for the man. Working to get someone else more wealthy while I earned just enough money to live off.
All I found was so called money making schemes, the kind of obvious scams where they had special offers, you send them money and they send you out a pack that will guarantee to change your life. Let's say I never fell for it.
I was fed up with it, I almost gave up trying.
I had dabbled in forex before and failed but thought I'd give it another go, so I loaded up my old Etoro profile and set off trying different strategies on the virtual account.
While doing this I soaked up as much info as possible reading ebooks, learning about charts, candle stick patterns, reading the financial news everything I possibly could to teach myself how.
I must say I did pretty successful on the virtual account, managing my money and emotions well. So after about 3 weeks of virtual trading I decided to deposit €100 and try my hand at the real stuff.
In the beginning I did well tripling my money within 2 weeks. Oil was my commodity of choice, all was going well until I gambled half of my account and lost, then emotions got the better of me. And within another hour my account was wiped out.
I was disheartenedand once again I gave up on the thought of earning money online, but there was a new type of "bitcoin" listed on Etoro called Ethereum and everyone was raving about it, I had no money left to play with but I kept watching the price of it, it tripled in one week!
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was intrigued, I wanted to know more so I started trawling the Internet again.
Long story short through my interest in Ethereum I found Steemit.
"Earn money by blogging" it said.
Yeah yeah another load of crap I thought, if you earn anything it'll be pennies, if that! Someone like me that's never been interested in blogging and never blogged before, I'd give up within a day or two.
Nonetheless I signed up, got addicted almost immediately and well let's just say I was proved wrong big time!
Since I joined on the last week of March this year this is what I've built my account to.
I've written more posts and gained more followers then i could ever have imagined.
Regularly gaining rewards like these...
I've built this account from the ground up without a single cent of investment.
Powering up all my earnings, which is something I'm planning on doing for years to come.
These type of earnings for someone who has never blogged before and to be honest didn't even really know how, in my eyes is nothing short of amazing.
I don't think there is anything currently available on the Internet that you could earn over a thousand dollars in just over 2 months with not one single cent of investment and not only this but directly through Steemit I've earned thousands more from reading about different cryptocurrencies and investing in them.
I no longer care about money, I'm happy in my crap job, I have more money then I've ever had and the best thing is I'm happier then I've ever been.
So I just want to say this...
STEEMIT YOU ARE OUTSTANDING!!!!
This is amazing @alexrickard86 . Good to read your story. It is an inspiration for users like me who have just started with Steemit. This gives me the trust and credibility that any newbie would be looking for. Good stuff
I hope you gain at least the same success as me and I think my success is quite modest compared to some. Steem on!
Yoy really get out of it what you put into it. The ''minnow support'' that @aggroed created is a game changer that will help the platform succeed. Why is this important? because if the little guys feel this is not worth their time there will be thousands of inactive accounts and the value of the platform will drop as a way to share content on a large scale.
Make sure to pay if forward and watch out for the little guy you will only be strengthening the community as you do.

Very well said, everyone adds values and at this important time of growth now is most important to support the little guys. The worst thing that could happen now is for the minnows to get no support get very discouraged and leave and tell people it's not worth it and only set up to make the top guys rich

I discovered steemit 9 month ago and found it very impressive. But the people i shared with didn't see value in it. With the current rise of cryptocoins i am rediscovering it and loving posts like yours! keep going :))

Power it up, the more steem power you have the more influence you have. The more influence you have the more you'll earn. Not only that you earn on your steem power like interest and the price of steem will keep rising making your account balance grow

I've tried everything as you said before too, almost word for word, and Steemit is the only place I'm starting to earn whatever effort I put into it. It's great!
Everything I tried before was rubbish, I never made any money till I found steemit and cryptocurrencies and not only the rewards the community is amazing just look at how they helped out a fellow steemian in need @darthnava.

Great story @alexrickard86...It almost matched with me. I just knew crypto world and steemit just 4/5 months ago. Initially, I inter into crytocurrency world investing some money on Ponzi scheme. Everybody knows about the big big Richmondberk scammed. I am also one the victim of that scheme. I lose some of money on that. I knew it from social media , one of my friend shared it. Though, they scammed me, I would like to thank them because they introduce me in such a nice crypto world and steemit comminity.
After that I was so frustrated and looking other online money making platform. One of my friend suggested me about the Steemit, learning & earning by blogging .I couldn't believe it, also I never did the blogging before and my English is not good as much as to write and attract the reader.
Initially, I was hesitated but later I decided and started blogging here with the purpose of learning not earning. Now I am making money with leaning without inventing of my single penny. I am so happy now, because I got many good friend over the world like you steemains who always love, care and suggest me.

You can read about it in the white paper. If you go into your wallet and where it says steem, there is a little arrow press that and click power up. Then it will take you through the powering up process. It's very easy.

Steemit is changing a lot of people's lives! Only in the past two days I've seen it help @darthnava a fellow steemian in need and also it helped buy @papa-pepper 8 acres of land, I also read it bought a brand new car for a couple from south America too.

Steem creates company-like structures with income streams. Haven't heard of it buying one yet.

Steemit really IS an awesome community... you're one of many whose lives have been changed by this community; mine too... I'd pretty much given up blogging after 20 years when I found this place.
It ignites and reignites passions, I never realised how much I loved photography until I started on steemit, now I'm thinking about doing a course and trying to get into it professionally!
And above that, all you got will rise in cost with a Steem token!

This is inspiring to me. Thats more or less what I hope to achieve here on STEEMIT by regularly posting content. Funny you mention trying your hand at FOREX, I also failed twice at that with real money after doing well in the virtual account, FOREX just wasnt meant for us.
Everyone does well in the virtual account, it's not your money so your emotions don't come in to play as soon as you switch to real boom emotions take a part and destroy you!

I feel the same About steemit and got to say that your story looks a lot like mine, storting with buying stocktrade, loose money there and then get to know bitcoin. Only difference is i Did not get fed up with work, I love my work, having my own business making my own choises. I Am more looking for a Nice hobby to spend Some free time, and a second way of income. Steemit combines that for me. That is Why I not only subscribed but Also invested Some money to build up steempower and upvote Posts like these. Enjoyed Reading it!
I don't think you can find better investing then this, it's risk free as no initial investment is required. Obviously like you, you can invest your own money too but to get a feel of the whole crypto game, there is no better platform
Love when people share stories when they got started out like that. It wakes up people that giving time into the community is an investment. who knows when it pays up.
