Goodbye YouTube, it's the END of an ERA :: Hello STEEMIT and DTUBE! [DTUBE/IPFS version!]

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

It's always fascinating in life how things seem to come full circle. As YouTube feels we are no longer "worthy" to be members of their once coveted "partner program", despite us being on YouTube since nearly the beginning, we felt compelled to create the following video...

Check out the full blog post relating to this video on STEEMIT here:

See y'all round the cryptosphere! :D

Also, a special thanks to @seveaux on STEEMIT for allowing us to use his epic song "Final Battle" for this piece: https://soundcloud.com/seveaux/final-battle

Lookin' great on @dtube!

Feelin' great on @dtube! :D

Haha!

It turns out that Jordan Peterson (who is currently getting lots of attention for short-circuiting a reporter's brain over the question of "free speech" versus "political correctness"), also appeared on a recent episode of Tucker Carlson's show, where they even go so far as to rip on YouTube and Google for censoring and/or demonetizing many of the more "conservatively-oriented" voices on the platform.

Definitely worth watching as well if you have a chance:

With great interest I have read of your YouTube ordeal in your closely related post.

I've long since heard of claims at YouTube censorship thanks to the likes of @wolvoman80 and such - and I have to admit that I didn't take his claims as seriously as I should have.

Your shift to DTube does make a fair bit of sense, all things considered. Of course you are right in suggesting that the 7 day post rewards thing is a buzz killer (applying that revenue-restriction to Hollywood would mean that a 'lot' of movies wouldn't get made).

With this said, I would like to get your feedback on a relatively recent post of mine. I know that your financial finesse is well respected among your peers and figure that if anybody might be inclined to tear its various aspects to shreds then it'd be you (and its fading away into the night as I type so no, I'm not trying to be opportunistic). ^_~

Thank you for your indulgence and all the best with your new DTube path!

I went through your post and the ideas you suggested to help mitigate some of the "issues" faced by STEEMIT. The problem is that those tactics can all be relatively easily circumvented through the use of fake accounts. As for BOTs, what you also have to understand is that from the perspective of the STEEM blockchain, even STEEMIT.com is a BOT. I dug up this old comment of mine when the topic was brought up on another post last year. Hopefully it helps better clarify the situation:

What many people don't even realize is that the steemit.com front-end is basically a bot (ie. it talks to the STEEM blockchain via API, just as any other BOT would), so there's really no way to "stop bots", without impeding STEEMIT as well. In fact, many of the slightly annoying features you do come across (ie. waiting for 30 minutes after a post goes live to get full curation reward, wait 3 seconds between votes, wait 20 seconds between comments), are all meant to "control bots". Of course, as you can see, all these "features" affect STEEMIT.com as well.

I thank you kindly for taking a look through the post in question.

I admit that I had no idea that Steemit itself could be considered an elaborate bot built upon the STEEM blockchain.

That kind of frames the situation in a different light - that it might "simply" take a better bot to supersede the incumbent champion.

Thank you again.

Full respect for this decision - best of luck with @dtube :)

yeah, it's still a shame it's come to this with YouTube, but it's great to finally see some true alternatives starting to crop up, not to mention some completely disruptive decentralized ones! :)

I'm super bullish on dtube, which means bullish on STEEM, which means...POST MORE, COMMENT MORE :) - glad to have met you yesterday!

Thanks @halcyondaze, great meeting you too! And yeah, it truly is a revolutionary model, not to mention... it really is Beyond Bitcoin, taking everything to a whole new level in quite a brilliant way! 😀

I mean, can you imagine clicking "upvote" on the ethereum network, let alone bitcoin?!
I might just pass enough time (and gas) to fill an entire room! 😂

LOL. Well said. You must be long on EOS too then?

well, let's just say I think EOS has "great potential"! lol

Quoting myself from a past post on EOS:

I'll point people towards what I find "interesting", but I've learned long ago that "stock tips" almost never end well. It's up to each of us to "pick our poison". And I'll guarantee you that if I told people I'm "loading the boat on STEEM" while it's at 10 cents (based on my risk criteria and time horizon), there will be some bozo who will come back hating me later, crying how my "advice" got them 100% long STEEM at $3 bucks for a short-term trade, and now they're sitting on a 60% long-term capital loss.

Link: Did Brendan Blumer (EOS) just say Bitcoin is an ICO at NYC FinTech?! Not quite, but sounds about right!

There probably are a few other posts I've written that may be of interest to you as well (ie. my posts on bitshares, Dan Larimer's first project, for decentralized crypto trading).

And you may find this one interesting too:

Link: How much would STEEMIT or BitShares be worth as SHARES on the New York Stock Exchange?!

Tahnks so much...digging through your old posts now. Added you to my Steemvoted and GINAbot!

I think many YouTuber will change to other platforms after new announcement of YouTube policy

I agree with you.
Welcome dtube and good bye youtube

The pioneer members like you did a excellent job.

Yes it is the end of their era. my goal is to join each decentralized network and ban the centralized ones from my use. We must do this together!
