Living Off The Grid: Picking Fruits And Vegetables From A Local Farm.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Today, me and my family went out and drove about an hour to a local farm in Northern California. They had fruits and vegetables growing everywhere and animals all over the place. All of the fruits and veggies they grow are non gmo and are not treated with pesticides, which is why they taste so good! ;)

Here are some pics from the trip!

This is me picking strawberries from the strawberry bushes!

So, overall it was a fun experience to escape to the country and get out of the busy city life, and picking your own fruits and vegetables teaches you quite a bit on how to harvest plants and do things for yourself without buying your food from a super market. It teaches you what life was like for people back when there was no super market and when you had to do things for yourself. I highly recommend you go out and try something like this as well, it is an awesome experience.

This is awesome! Please keep sharing stories like this. Most of us forget that most American Households grew their own stuff at one point. I really need to blog or vlog about our journey to an edible landscape in Southern California. My wife and I are mapping out how to do this in an urban setting while maintaining aesthetics. This is nothing new but very few people talk about it. The project is just starting but our goal is to show ourselves and family that you can grow your own NON-GMO organic food with very little land and WITHOUT pissing off your neighbors. Just my 2 sathoshis. :)

And this might be shameless self-promotion but the coincidence was almost too eery to ignore. I just started doing some free giveaway days for one of the books I've published to KDP....called "Living Off The Grid". I kid you not lol. It's free through Tuesday. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TVEDBTI
