Yeah, basically Steemit is a platform where users can exchange services directly with each other. Sending Sbd or Steem to each other is fast. The blogging format is the first service provided at the moment since it's in beta stage and works to showcase others how easy Steemit works and what to expect. Imagine when video uploads will be available, and steemit becomes like youtube, or a Twitter service, or an Instagram service when mobile apps become available or a marketplace on steemit? Steemit works as it should, for now, the best things are yet to come.

It's a really smart move to start with a blogging community as the first service. Look at the posts with the steemit tag - that's a think tank and a developer community, constantly working on new ideas and tools for the Steem platform. And in the same time is Steemit a big PR campaign for Steem, cryptocurrency and blockchain. People like me, who never have been mined Bitcoin or Alt-Coins (because of lack of knowledge and slow laptops) are now creating a digital currency. Really everybody can get Steem Dollars and Steempower at Steemit. Maybe not thousands of it, but enough to get a feeling how this cryptocurrency is working, how to pay with it.
I'm really looking forward to the marketplace. I'll expect lots of offers there. Other services like micro-insurances, gaming and so on will let the Steem market cap rise to the moon.
I agree, the organic growth potential is awesome. What I consider most often is the "unintended consequences" that are involved. People are basically creating a community with every post and comment without knowing the mechanics, implications or affects that their interactions are creating. The evolution over time is going to be awesome as everyone finds their niche and starts to contribute in a more streamlined or directed path.
I wish I were more articulate to provide more meaning to my own comments. If only I could convey my perception of steemit as I see it. Out of chaos the beauty will emerge ... "Fractally " speaking.
