How To Make A Killer Post on Steemit

For those who hate to read more than 50 words, I am here to tell you, all you need to do is WRITE.

I noticed a lot of people, myself included, wants to earn $500 or more with that single post that gets everyone upvoting. But the reality is most posts are too generic, they lack substance. You could easily see that the author is in a desperate bid to earn rewards without offering anything in return.

So I am dropping some ways to write a killer post.

Write about a familiar topic

Because Mr. Jon wrote a killer post on how to plant rice in the desert and made $300, does not guarantee the same result when Mr. Kon writes on the same topic.

It would probably not turn out so well trying to replicate his success by writing on the same subject without the knowledge of rice farming which Mr. Jon seemed to have in abundance.

Create content when you are relaxed

I wrote this lying down on my very comfortable bed. Yeah, it's the weekend, I may not leave this bed anytime soon :)
When you are under pressure to write, there is a high probability that it would affect the creative side of you.
Ignore the voice telling you to write when you are very uncomfortable, there is a chance that the post would look forced.

Write in simple language and grammar

I have observed that most bestselling books were written in simple easy to understand English language and grammar. Using simple words makes it easier for your readers to understand. A post in which everyone keeps searching through Google to understand what you meant may not get the desired response.

Use an optimum article length

There is no set rule to use in defining the optimum article length. But there is something that should be taken into consideration here.

If your post is less than fifty words, the likelihood that it would attract enough people to upvote is quite slim. But like in every circumstance such as this, there is no rule or one size fits all fix. A 50-word article accompanied by a video of you doing something awesome, like jumping off an airplane with no parachute, may just get you that $100+ upvotes.

This is not a call to put up a 1000-word article describing how you wake up in the morning.

The summary is to make sure your posts are not too short and not too long to bore your readers. Striking a balance here is a very important to your success as a blogger.

Put some image in your article

A picture they say is worth a thousand words. A picture on an article could serve a wide range of purpose.

Some may be used to make the reader see a visual representation of what the writer was describing in words. There is still the use of images just for entertainment purposes. Others may be to break the monotony of reading only texts.

The latter is easily overdone, as I have seen an article of fewer than 200 words with four different random pictures. It made the post looks like a kindergarten coloring book.

High-resolution free images could be gotten at https://www.pixabay.com,https://www.pexels.com, https://unsplash.com , etc.

Format your post

It only takes 3 minutes to read about Markdowns here:

https://guides.github.com/features/mastering-markdown/

That would make all the difference between that amateurish looking blog that people glance through and exit, to that awesome blog where everyone loves to read and upvote.

I would like to stop here, thank you for reading and do leave your thoughts in the comment section.

Good summary

There is no one main thing - get followers. Be noticed.

I too agree

Is there a way to alter the size of the photos I include or is the only way to use photoshop before uploading. If the answer is the latter, where can I get some reference to use for cropping?

The link is dead, but I've managed to find some useful information on google. -.- feeling pretty stupid tbh.

Try it again, I shouldn't have put the fullstops in.

Great advice. great post.
So...just keep waitin' for my killer post. :)

Thanks for the good advice, hope to create some good content in the future.

A great post and picture. I give you 100% upvote. If you dont mind, please visit my post please.

Yah, when you are relaxed is a good time to write because that is when the ideas come in cool.

I agree with everything that you said. Write your blog like you would write a paper for school.

I learnt something New here. Thanks so much

Great summary I had already a similar topic in mind to write about. :D
Great. It helps a lot.

I'm tired of those how-to-steemit texts lately, but this is really sound piece of advice. Resteemed.

Well it worked, your almost to $50 and it has barely been 20 min.

The other part is have a lot of follower

That article is really useful!
Gonna re-search some about posting..
Thanks for sharin this info and experience!
Upvoted, re-steemed and follow you!
Keep steeming

Very good advice for a successful post. I guess it all boils down to this:
Write what you are passionate about, and something that you actually KNOW something about.

Great guide!

Some very good points here, still working on my own style.

Write from the heart! ❤ love the tips you gave... having an eye catching cover photo always helps!

This is what I explained in detail :P
But the difference is this is from @adsactly and you the other was from a minnow :(

Thanks for the pointers.

Thx for the nice and informative article, followed and upvoted!

It is just so tough for a newbie to reach audience but I am trying every day,

Love to connect with all of you guys, if you like!

Cheers @bitfixer999

So, so, so true! Loved it! And content is the key to success... almost like everything in life! Maybe now with Steemit people will be more encouraged to write because in the past there was almost no serious place to write and write, because of the doubt that anyone will read those postings... Maybe Reddit.. but well... Now we have a chance. And by the way sorry for my writing, I'm not native english spoken as you see! :) Love to that wonderful team!

Great post! would you consider giving me some feedback on this ..?
Best wishes :)

Feedback: don't link your own articles on another person's post unless instructed.

Great point! Thank you :)

Fantastic...
This post is timely
I'm going to share with some newbies now

I don't like posts that are too long and have little pictures

I agree, you definitely need to work on topics you know about/are interested in, provide quality and give the readers something they will enjoy.

maybe this a killer post congratulation @adsactly
voted and resteemed

Great tips , thank you

Thats very informative. Less than 50 words is better to read bec. it is straight to the point. I cant wait the zapll to take over for its short burst of blog.

Pretty simple and solid advice, Im going to review it every time I get dry of ideas to return to the basics.

Thanks a.lot serial.killer :)

killer post about killer posts

Very good points. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Very informative. This post definitely deserves upvote & resteem

Thank you so much. This is an extremely helpful post.

Many of the suggestions in here I will take to heart. I agree completely about writing for oneself and what he or she knows. Too many write for the payback which might or might not come.

I will watch the random photo deal. I tend to go overboard with them too even when it isnt a photo post.

Thanks for the 411 @adsactly.

Absolutely write! I can hardly think when tired let alone write a decent post. Good advice. 🐓🐓

May i translate this to Tagalog @adsactly? It would really help my fellow Filipino Steemians to improve on their writing and make the most out of their skills.

Thank you for such a treasure trove of information. :)

Thanks for sharing!!

The problem is that writers are outnumber the readers. Everyone is chasing voters.

Fantastic...thanks and resteemed and upvoted + followed

Very good post. I too have noticed some posts, where they never even bother about grammar or a pretty good writing way, but simply dream of earning dollars. This post will help so many. I am resteeming this post.

Thank you for the so useful advices!

Congratulations @adsactly, this post is the forth most rewarded post (based on pending payouts) in the last 12 hours written by a Superhero or Legend account holder (accounts hold greater than 100 Mega Vests). The total number of posts by Superhero and Legend account holders during this period was 27 and the total pending payments to posts in these categories was $1069.03. This is a great post on the creation of content, however I feel like nobody is talking about networking. How do I get people to vote on my content without kissing a whales butt?

I have a lot of content and a couple of projects, I would like to put on Steemit, but I fear I will spend all this time effort, and money into building these projects and nobody will see them. Meanwhile I see memes that arent even funny get $100 because they are friends with whales.

I have a lot of entertainment to offer this platform, but I just cant afford to spend the time doing it because my networking efforts are not working.

Can you help us understand that instead of saying content is key, because it is obvious that networking (aka kissing a whales butt) is what really works. lol

Thanks @adsactly! This is great info!

And since you seem to know a thing or two about writing valuable content, and getting it out to the Steemian masses, I wanna pick your brain.

Last year I rode my mountain bike from Denver, Colorado to The Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota, to stand with the First Nations people (and thousands others) to oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline. I stayed through the mass arrests, actions in a hypothermic river, the water cannons, and a handful of blizzards.

I've spent the last year writing a book about my experience. Then, I decided I'd release the e- book as a Steemit Exclusive, that's rich with photos, video blogs, and music videos that I filmed along the way.

Each day I'm releasing content here on Steemit, but I'm still making pennies.

What can I do to get my posts seen by more people?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the perfect guide for us, winnows.

This summary is great , thanks for this .
Inner built i much better than forced actions.

Great sir

I've learn a lot from this . Thank you for sharing ! @greenrun

Always good to read and hope we get more out of Steemit 😁 please folllow @nixthehammer
