Another one, and a great data-dive idea by @charisma777, who (picked up a follow for proof of brain!) and wanted to know which were the most commented on posts with the tag #informationfinding.
I can see this being useful for those of us who've used a custom tag, perhaps to invite others to use the same tag for a competition entry or to try to raise the awareness and get the tag listed in the 'All tags' menu.
I've seen many users define a new tag and run with it, encouraging other Steemians to use the tag in their posts. And in time, you can see communities growing around these tags, which is super awesome!
walkwithme, gifteconomy, #steemgigs, steemfest, newbieresteemday, witness-category, slothicoin, teardrops, etc, etc
I think there could be some interest here :D
The list will look something like this, and these are the results from the #informationfinding tag:
Created | Author | Link | Count |
---|---|---|---|
1/26/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-1-150-steem- | 95 |
2/19/2018 | markkennard | an-up-and-coming-steemian-with-great-content | 64 |
1/28/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-3-150-steem- | 50 |
3/11/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-16 | 49 |
1/30/2018 | nxtblg | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-4-entry | 45 |
2/18/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-10 | 41 |
1/27/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-2-150-steem- | 39 |
2/17/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-9 | 38 |
2/11/2018 | apolymask | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-8 | 37 |
3/1/2018 | amariespeaks | information-finding-championship-season-1-round-12-entry-wat | 37 |
The query looks at the 'category' metadata, and each of the 5 possible tags (I think the 'category' is the same as the first tag?) that can be assigned to a post. 'Count' is the number of comments the post has received.
The smallprint
This query takes some time to run (12 - 18 minutes in testing) and I'm likely to receive a phone call from @arcange if I pummel his DataBase too much!
Depending on the number of responses, I'm unlikely to fulfill all requests this time, and I'd prefer to see suggestions of tags that are not amongst the most popular.
Comment counts could be slightly off if the post is still 'active'.

Thank you so much for pulling this for us! This will be useful for sure, much appreciated! Thanks again @abh12345!
Good morning Asher. I don’t see my team here yet so I will make this request. Could you query #newbieresteemday?
Only if you have time, some might want to know about #newbiegames too. Thank you!
Good morning!
#newbieresteemday is the first official request :D
I hope it's of use and/or interest!
Thank you! We always encourage our newbies to enter @danielsaori’s Steemit Comment Challenge. Happy to see Daniel’s comment challenge are top performers for comment count!
@davemmcoy and @terminallyill would be happy to know they made the list too. Funny that my teammate, Mello, made it on with his Super Bowl contest that inspired his regular NBA contest, hehe.
Thanks again Asher. Have a great day!
I'm glad you like what you see and I'm sure @danielsaori will too.
Go #newbieresteemday :D
Wow! cool stuff. Thanks for the stats Asher. :)
My pleasure :)
If you have another tag you'd like to see the data for, or any other stats ideas let me know, cheers!
if you are free from work then only share otherwise all gucci ;p my tag would be life ; )
Life! Pick a quiet tag will ya? :D
The 10 most popular posts by number of comments in the tag, #life!
And the top one is Spam! hahaha
This was really interesting and helpful to look at! Thanks for sharing and also thanks to @charisma777 for requesting it as well! :)
Thanks @apolymask!
I've just been looking around your blog and at the resteems - still figuring out what's going on but it looks like you have an engaged community over there, nice one!
You're welcome. Credit where credit is due. :) And oh? Cool. Yeah.. It's getting off to a great start in my opinion! Only a little more than a month into this and we're learning and still in our baby steps, yet.. I think we have around 50 people on our discord and two witnesses helping to sponsor our contest, plus a bunch of other really positive things are happening! So.. Yeah.. It's looking really good so far! Though.. It's hard keeping up with it all sometimes. ._. Thanks for the feedback! :D
The site isn't perfect yet but ongoing. Open-source as well, so we can move faster. Thank you for still remembering the tag ALOT
Hey, nice!
Let me know when it's up, and thank you for the RS!

Hi Terry, thanks for the link - glad to see Steemgigs looking better than ever!
I will certainly offer my 'adhoc crazy stats service' on there soon!
Thank you for this longstanding and awesome initiative :D
you must be looking to win an award for the most engaging posts Asher. Sure go on and run blockchainbi stats
I'll take 50k delegation, sure :D
If comments mean the post is engaging, then yeah i'm doing alright this week!
#blockchainbi - execution time: 17:19
Err, a little embarrassing here! haha :D
I'll run it again later without me included!
lovely, I thought it would show something like that
And without me, it's the @paulag show :D
you should not have re-run the query to exclude you - say it loud and say it proud - and at least a few names show up beside me - your just a totally awesome steemain...
awww <333
Thanks Paula, that is very kind of you to say so! Who needs $500 posts when you get comments like this :D
Hi! I love your new initiative to create a top-sheets! It is very interesting and saves time! In addition, we see what is popular! That's awesome! Thank you! I'll think about it.
Thank you!
I'm trying to help, and it's good to share information and 'popular' posts, even if they are old :)
Ooooo. You name dropper you @abh12345. "I'm likely to receive a phone call from @arcange". You're on phone number swapping terms, eh? I'm going to have to check him/her out! 😁
@abh1245 did the right thing, to call the most appropriate person to help.
BTW, if you have some free witness vote, yours is very welcome :D
He owns the DataBase I subscribe to :D
I notice he's a witness too so I'll take a closer look from that perspective. 😊
This doesn't look like the best time of the day to post!
I thought I'd get a few requests, but apparently not! :D
Maybe not only the time of day @abh12345. I was all ready to jump straight in and really please to see one in the morning (for me) but the topic wasn't really relevant.
I've only ever created one tag of my own and didn't use it for long enough for the results to be of interest.
Yes that's ok, I gave the post a boost hoping to reach some 'community leader' type people who've been promoting a tag, like the ones mentioned above.
I'm going to run #walkwithme myself seeing as I have no 'work' to do yet!
Now you come to mention it, that's somthing I would be really interested in knowing . . . what days/times of day bring me the most comments.
I was using Steem activity but it doesn't seem to be working now and I'm not sure have useful it is.
So now, if I'm able to choose, I just post when I notice there seems to be more activity on GINA, although activity is sooooooo low right now.
Sometimes hours pass and there are no posts at all in the "new" tag.
Hi @abh12345. I wonder if you could help us with the SQL code for this one.
I'm trying to find out how many posts use our #newbieresteemday tag, weekly, monthly, or all time.
As you know @mellofello from our team likes BI and data. He is stubborn though so refuses to subscribe or 'pay' for steemSQL, even though I saved the SBD in the account for when he needs it.
So his bright idea is to query the data directly from the steem blockchain. Or some API layer of it with Privex SBSD (whatever that means). He has successfully done so (or thinks he has since he was able to query our acct's data).
Issue is, he's not sure what the search parameters would be used for 'tags'. I remembered this post of yours, and thought any guidance on tables/field names might be helpful to him.
I have sent beeYOU a message on discord :)
wow you are doing so much work for everyone this is truly amazing
great post
awsome post
Wonderful post.
Thanks for sharing this information.
I appreciate your post.. resteemit
Interesting to see that tags created can influence the amount of comments on given post. The data can be useful in writing content that will attract a lot of post engagements and comments also. Great post @abh12345
