Hello Steemians,
Greetings,
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook says
There are important counter-trends to this --like encryption and cryptocurrency -- that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people's hands
Every year he takes a personal challenge to learn something new. He started doing these challenges since 2009. In 2017, he challenged himself to create an AI based system which he can talk to, that will help him do some household stuffs. He calls it Jarvis, and it turns out to be very successful.
This year he is focused on solving the issues of abuse and hate, national interference, etc. One most important field that he is going to focus is decentralization. He clearly implies from his post that he is going to looking into the world od decentralization and see if he can implement this technology in facebook to give people the power.
This is what he says
one of the most interesting questions in technology right now is about centralization vs decentralization. A lot of us got into technology because we believe it can be a decentralizing force that puts more power in people's hands. (The first four words of Facebook's mission have always been "give people the power".) Back in the 1990s and 2000s, most people believed technology would be a decentralizing force.
not to forget that the internet was decentralized when it was created

Talking about Facebook, it did move fast and is still moving fast. It's one of the biggest centralized network that we all know. The centralized internet has been making a huge impact over the society. Almost all the web runs on a platform that is centralized. There are many controversies over the internet that the centralized system is making. First priority always goes to the privacy if users data, then there is the concern of security, reliability and all other stuffs. Decentralization certainly solves these issue giving power to the users.
Decentralization is not a newer topic, but the recent advancement in this area has finally got the attention of Mark Zuckerberg. I do hope now things will go rapidly on this area. This is going to be interesting to see the revolution of blockchain, cryptocurrency and decentralization as a whole. I myself am very optimistic about this and I am sure that the future is decentralized. We want freedom, and I hope we are not far away from getting it. What do you guys think?? let me know in the comments if you have some arguments or any counter arguments.
And also, how do you think this is going to affect our beautiful platform, steemit?? Do you think that this is going to more likely promote steemit or is it going to have negative effects on steemit that facebook is implementing decentralization and people will use already famous website over something that is just growing !!
Whatever the results may be, this is going to be interesting to see the outcomes. I personally believe that steemit is here to stay and nothing can replace it!!
Yours,
Aashish Kandel
Namaste, bless you!
Well I personally believe that thia ia only going to make steemit more valuable as a pioneering decentralized blockchain.
i am having the same vision too :)
