What up, it's Webcomic Wednesdays!
Did I just make that up? Maybe. But hey, alliteration!
So this comic is based on an incident that happened 2 weeks ago, but is certainly not the first, last, or only time it's happened.
Also, full disclosure: if I see even ONE "but not ALL men!" comment, I WILL personally throw you into the sun. Those comments (of which I have received plenty, both in person and online so it's not even anything new) are a) not helpful, b) not helpful, and most importantly c) not helpful. Thanks.
Anyways, pretty much as the comic says, I decided to go for a walk, decided to be friendly and return a greeting, and then was immediately propositioned. Really? The guy at least had the decency to say "Okay have a good day" when I declined, but still. Has this line ever worked on anyone? I'm just trying to get some small exercise in and meditate on my day, please leave me alone. Just because I said "Hi" back doesn't mean I'm interested T-T
Funny enough, I actually watched a video of a woman who decided to answer affirmatively to these catcalls. One of the men asked her if she wanted to get married and she answered "yes. Right now" and he had no idea how to respond. In fact, most of the men in the video were clueless with how to act after she "took them up" on the offer. Makes you wonder on the actual motivation...
I'd consider doing something like that if it weren't for the numerous cases of random men attacking women for rejecting them...yeah...I'd rather stay safe and just ignore them. Better safe than sorry. Or dead.
But enough on that. Let's see the sketches!
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! Ladies, I'm sure we can all relate, so feel free to share your stories in the comments!. And to my male readers: have you ever experienced this? Either a guy or a girl hitting on you while you were outside casually? How did you handle it? Let me know in the comments!

I'd say this is a win, really. A small one, but still a win. He didn't go straight to saying lewd, crude, and socially unacceptable things. He inquired after a polite greeting, then thanked you for your time and moved on. It's kind of like a phone solicitor...you don't want their advances, but it's nice when they at least drop it right away. :-)
Anyway, I don't know what people hope to get with this sort of exchange either, but I have to assume it works at least sometime. It's a numbers game maybe: every no gets you closer to a yes. Hahaha!
i wouldn't really classify this as a win. more like...a "wow that could've gone way worse. still wish it didnt happen" but yes, in the grand scheme of things...I am grateful it was civil, even if the proposition itself was inappropriate. A telemarketer is a good analogy haha.
The telemarketers have been incessant here lately. They are literally calling 4+ times every day. I'm playing with fun ways to say no and get off the phone asap, so it's been on my mind. 😀
I used to encounter this all the time when I was younger. Now I'm either too old or too intimidating :) I know my daughters deal with it all the time, now, though! It is annoying. I love your comics, as always. Good way to deal with this issue, take it out in your art and spread the word. maybe someone will 'get' the hint!
Yeah, it seems to be something that lasts generations unfortunately... And yes, as I said in a previous comment, the one positive I got was knowing I could use this as material, haha. Thanks!
I am just laughing so hard on so many levels.
It's bad in Asia. No you don't even have such decent proposals.
It's either this annoying loud kissing sounds to get your attention, or stare you down, or worse trying to brush up against you.
So over the years, I've just learned never to dress like a lady. Full stop. I don't wear makeup and I don't smile at strangers, just pretend you are consumed by reading something riveting.
These days I feel like this persona I've put up that was running on auto pilot wasn't serving me.
I should be free to be myself. I do smile at strangers of course! That never truly died off but the getting dressed all pretty I may need to work on.
Thank you for this funny and honest article! Love your sense of humor....will you marry me? ;p
I hate loud kissing sounds.
In any context.
Period. (Ugghhhhh)
(Got it from guys and girls before (platonic setting).)
Exactly right!! LOL!!
aww, I'm so sorry to hear about your experiences. Funny enough, I also try to combat it by dressing less feminine! Kind of like an experiment to see if it causes less occurences, since in the past I've noticed being harassed a bit more if I'm wearing makeup or a dress....fortunately for me I tend to enjoy the more androgynous dressing style anyways and makeup is a hassle for me, but you know, it'd be nice to dress up if I was in the mood to, and not worry about unwanted attention!
I think safety is always important, but I hope you become more comfortable dressing the way you prefer, and more importantly that men stop acting this way! I'm glad you enjoyed the comic hahaha <3
Thank you, I hope so too! It is nice to feel feminine and not try to hide our curves and best assets.
No, I don't care much for makeup either, but it would be nice to feel pretty and also feel safe at the same time. :)

Yeah! Really! We're not just 'pretty flesh' thingies on legs. I love this comic, Corinne !! SO TRUE and it happens all the time, gaaaaaaaah
(also btw your ava representation is so cute omg XD)
um yeah, what else can i say? HMM, oh yeah! YOU ROCK \o/
SO glad you understand! Honestly. I'm glad you like the comic. The one real positive I got out of the interaction was the immediate "well at least I can draw this"
and hahaha thanks! the avatar is cute because i'm cute :P lolol. Thanks for stopping by!
It doesn’t happen here in New York. Not when you’re walking or jogging. At least this is what I see. 😊
then you are very lucky indeed to not have personally encountered it. NYC was actually where that video I watched was filmed, and I have friends who live in NYC who have had to deal with lots of catcalling and even following.
but not all... okay i don't have any intention of being thrown into the sun. glad to nominate this for @ocd curation :)
thank you for restraining yourself! hahaha. I realized that by explicitly saying "don't say x" that it encourages more people to say it, if only to annoy me (less so on here, more so on other platforms). Thanks for the nomination!!

Hello very funny comic it is a shame this guy broke your little moment of peace:)
thank you! I tried not to let it bug me the rest of the walk, but would have been nice if it hadn't happened.
Wow, that guy is desperate. ":D
That's tooootally not the way to go about things, maaan. xD
And yup, no advice for you here, haha... :P
desperate is definitely the word! And it so rarely works...even in a scene where it is appropriate to ask that question (like maybe a club or a singles mingle) desperation is such a huge turn off.
hahaha no advice needed, but thanks for the support!
As a father of teen and adult daughters, I do pray for a world in which the men had more integrity and respect! Thanks for chronicling this in your comics.
of course. and thank you for understanding! I hope your daughters don't have to deal with this, or if they do that they are able to stay safe.
I'm delighted with such comics! It seems that it's done very simply, but I suspect that it took a lot of time))
So funny and true! I love taking morning walks in the park but those guys can ruin that lovely experience. Last time this happened to me I was alone in the area when a very weird guy came to me and he even didn't ask if I have a boyfriend. He had already decided that we will be great together although he probably had known about my existence not longer than a few minutes. Not creepy at all :D
Now that you say so, I was once una karaoke singing when this girl came up to the stage to sing with me a couple of times, then asked me if I was alone or with my gf... So I told her I was with my wife and proceeded to ignore her while we continue singing haha... Funny thing is that this sort of things never happened while I was single, I think when I'm single it's usually me who creeps out the ladies
